Chapter 38: Pre-Party Jitters

(AMANDA'S POINT OF VIEW)

Life is so bittersweet.

Today is my birthday.

But it's also the day my parents died.

Alright, well you may think 'oh that's so unfortunate, her parents died on her birthday'. Well, let me tell you something: it is.

My parents were the most loving people I knew. Meant for each other, you could say. Yeah, well, God decided to take them from us, my sister and I. We were really close with them too.

It was our sixteenth birthday and we were driving in the car to London. Dad was driving, and mom was messing with the radio. Aves and I were in the back seat with one earbud in each, listening to none other than, One Direction.

The song playing throughout our speakers and through our head was "Moments". Mom had heard it playing and she shut the radio off. I took the earbuds out and played the music out of the speakers of my phone. My mom, Avery, and I all joined in singing at the chorus. When they finished the first one, the car jolted to the right, smashing into the car beside us, which rammed into the edge of the highway. My mom looked at my dad, and his eyes were closed, his head was back resting against the head rest. He looked like he had a heart attack. My mom panicked. She started dialing 9-1-1 and tried shaking him awake. "Daniel! Dan wake up! Please don't leave us! DANIEL!" She had tears streaming down her face. That's when it hit us.

When our car swerved, we went into the opposite facing lane. A semi-truck was headed straight for us.

My mom screamed. She had no idea what was happening. Avery and I ducked our heads down behind the seats and went into egg-shell position. Then everything happened so fast, I can't remember anymore. It's still sensitive in my brain, though.

Police and ambulances took us to a big hospital and after a few hours, our parents were declared dead. Avery and I were lucky, we exited the hospital with only a few bandages and scratches.

That was all past history though. And now? We had a big party and presents to attend to.

But, before I did any partying, I was going to take Avery to our parents graves.

We laid there for about an hour, just thinking about how our day would go. Then I asked her something.

"So, I was thinking about going to see mom and dad today. Ya know.. At their.. Graves." I paused for a moment. I barely choked the word out. "Did you wanna come with me?"

She looked hesitant, but after a while she said yes.

We both got up, took showers, and got ready. The boys were already in our little kitchen with food for us. There were eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes being made, fresh fruit, and various kinds of drinks. This is what happens when you and your sister date famous singers; they shower you with anything.
