Chapter 5: The Start of a Lie

Daryn:
SATURDAY
"The funeral service was nice." My mom said hugging Khari's mom.
"Yeah I know he would have loved it." Khari's mom said smiling back. Khari glanced at me and nodded for us to separate from the moms.
"So what happened last night cause when we got back from getting the pizza and the grocery store y'all were gone." Khaki asked.
"Oh uhm my dad wanted to have dinner with me so Jordan took me home."
She nodded at what I was saying. I hated that I had to lie to her but Jordan and I promised to keep that little mistake a secret.
"Well text me when your on your way to my house. I'm so ready to get back to D.C.," she said. Tomorrow was our last day here and we were flying back together so we were definitely going to ride to the airport together.
"Okay girl I will." I said hugging her. She walked away and I went to find my mom.
"Hey Daryn you ready to go?" She asked.
"Yes ma'am." I said and she nodded as we walked out of the church.

Ashley:
I was sitting in the clinic for the third time this week and was waiting for the doctor to write me a prescription to take care of this.
A few days before me and Jordan had sex I started feeling a little funny but I brushed it off. But soon I started to feel sick so I went to the on campus clinic and turns out I have chlamidia. It's curable but I'm trying to figure out who I got it from. I mean my freshmen year I messed with a lot of dudes but I would have felt it sooner right? So the only person it could really be would be my ex that I kinda got back with a month ago but we didn't work out. Either way it goes, now I have to tell Jordan because he might have it and I really hope he hasn't been with anyone else.
"Okay Ms. Bren take this prescription to your pharmacist to get it filled and follow the instructions on the bottle."
I nodded. "Okay."
"And did you figure out possibly who you go it from?"
"I think so."
"Well speak to them about it because they might not know they have it.. And also tell that boy you messed that he might have it too."

Jordan:
I walked back into my room loosening my tie and taking off my jacket. I threw on a pair of basketball shorts and kept my shirt off. I turned on the TV and decided to catch up on some shows I've been missing out on. Daryn and I didn't really talk much at the funeral and I'm not too sure why so I decided to hit her up about dinner later.
Me: let me take you to dinner at 7? 2:05pm
Daryn 🔐: okay Jojo lol where? 2:10pm
Me: how bout Seaboat? 2:11pm
Daryn: Mk.
I decided to lay back and get a nap in before I had to get ready to go.

Daryn:
Me: Mk.
I glanced up from my phone as the message sent.
"Daryn did you hear your father?"
"Hm? No I'm sorry."
"I said how's school baby girl?"
"Oh school is great so far I have all A's."
"And the parties?" He said sticking his fork in a piece of broccoli. After the funeral my mom and I went to meet my dad for brunch.
"Haha daddy the parties are lit."
"See I told you they would be live." My dad said. He was a Howard alumni so he was sure he knew what he was talking about.
"Now Mark that's not all she's down there for."
"Yes Gabrielle I know what she's down there for to become the next prestigious lawyer of the Harrison family but she's also there to have fun and I'm just saying that Howard has great parties."
"I still think you should have gone to Spelman." My mom said and I rolled my eyes.
"Okay Gab but she doesn't, she goes to Howard." I rolled my eyes because this was a continuos debate between the two of them on which one of their alma maters was better.
"Alright y'all it really doesn't matter." I said finally speaking up to end this argument.
"You're right sweetheart." My dad said smiling at me.
This is exactly why they're not together now cause they can't get along for two seconds. I sighed and finished my food so we could finally go.
When I got home I went to FaceTime Miles.
"Aye boo what's up?" He said as his face popped up on the screen.
"Hey what you doing?" I said laying down under my blanket.
"Nothing right now just watching TV. I kinda miss you."
"Kinda?"
"Yeah kinda. I mean you only been gone like a day."
I smiled. "Okay I guess I kinda miss you too."
"Nah it doesn't work like that cause you said 'I guess' so that means your not too sure."
"I am sure."
He smiled. His smile was bright and I'm sure his orthodontist is proud.
"Hold on real quick somebody's at the door."
"Okay." I said and went to start up my computer.
"Nah Chantel right now is not the time... No I'm for real you gotta go." I heard him say. I raised my eyebrow because I know there aren't any dudes named Chantel that he rolls with so it had to be a girl.
"Seriously Miles we gotta talk about this baby like it took two."
My eyes widened as I heard that. You've got to be kidding me. I damn sure ain't about to be somebody's step mom. Or step girlfriend whatever you wanna call it, it wasn't gonna be me.
I hung up the phone and went to finish my homework. After a few minutes I saw Miles' name flash across my phone screen, and I pressed ignore. I wasn't in the mood to hear him out about this shit. He tried a few more times and the call was denied every time.
I finished up some more of my homework before starting to get dressed for this dinner with Jordan. I just need to get my mind off Miles.

Jordan:
I rolled up to Daryn's house and decided to be a gentleman and ring the doorbell instead of texting her to come outside.
"Hello Jordan? I wasn't expecting you.." Mrs. Harrison said letting me into the house.
"Well I wanted to take Daryn out to dinner before we go our separate ways again and head back to school."
She nodded. "That's great sweetheart.. How's school going anyway?" She asked before yelling Daryn's name.
"It's cool so far."
"And your family they're good too yeah?"
"Yes ma'am." I said as Daryn walked downstairs.
I must say she looked beautiful even in a simple outfit.
"You look beautiful." I said as she got to the end of the stairway.
"Thank you." She blushed. "You don't look too bad yourself."
I smiled as her mom entered the room again.
"So where y'all going?" She asked sitting on the couch. Daryn looked at me to answer.
"That all you can eat seafood restaurant, Seaboat."
"Ooo yummy. Okay well y'all have fun." She smiled and we said goodbye before heading to my car.
Once we were on the road to the restaurant Daryn's phone started to ring, but she hit the ignore button. She sighed.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." She smiled.
"Daryn come one don't lie to me."
She laughed.

Daryn:
I laughed because I didn't know if I wanted to tell him about Miles, mainly because I didn't even know what to say, I could be completely wrong about what I heard but I don't feel like talking to Miles right now.
"It's really nothing Jordan." I lied.
"Mhm." He said while parking his car. We walked into the restaurant and were seated immediately. It was pretty empty for a Saturday.
Once we sat down my phone started to ring again.
"New boo?" Jordan asked.
"I don't know anymore." I said hitting the ignore button.
"What's up?"
"Well we just started talking and we were on the phone earlier and some girl walked in talking about 'it took two to make this baby'."
"Hmmmm. I see. So what you gonna do?"
"I don't know. I like him so I'll hear him out you know."
"Yeah." Jordan said while breaking a crab leg in half.
We talked more while eating and just enjoyed each others company.

Miles:
"Seriously Miles we gotta talk about this baby like it took two."
"Shit!" I yelled because I realized the phone was still on FaceTime.
I went over to the phone and it was back on the home screen.
"Damn she hung up."
"Oh were you on the phone?" Chantel asked.
"Yeah look I don't have anything to say about this baby, if it's mine I'll help take care of it no doubt, I wasn't raised to make a baby and leave it fatherless, but if it's not mine you gotta stop bothering me about it. And we not gon find out none of the answers we need until the baby is born so until then let's stay on the acquaintance level."
She rolled her eyes and then nodded.
"Fine. That's totally fine Miles. But when it turns out you're the daddy I hope you got enough money for diapers and you not out here blowing it on random bitches."
"The only random chick I messed with was you, so chill out with that mess."
"Okay I'm gone. I guess I'll see you in 7 months." She said before slamming the door behind her.
