Dax's Point of View:
Joshua and I are running through the forest at top speed. Together, him and I, are dodging the forest trees left and right, jumping over logs and heading towards my father's pack house. I swear, if that asshole has my mate, I'm submerging that whole fucking pack house underwater.
A werewolf's mate is his or her's weakness. If a werewolf's mate is taken the werewolf would go on an absolute rampage. I'm trying to contain my anger. I want to keep a leveled head so I can have a clear mind. If I didn't, I would blindly tear apart this town looking for my mate.
Whoever took my mate will fucking pay.
We've passed this pack's border not too long ago. It's not long before the werewolf potrol around this area catches a whiff of our scent and come after us. As soon as that thought crossed my mind a loud howl sounded throughout the forest. Shit, it isn't long before they get here.
Joshua. I say through our pack link.
Yes Alpha?
Be on your toes, they've got our scent.
I can practically hear the smirk in his voice, Please, they should be careful. Alpha, we're a force to be reckoned with.
I mentally roll my eyes at that. I mean, Joseph and I are a powerhouse, but we can't handle an army of wolves. Of course, my power is strong, but even I have limits.
The sound of paws pounding on the forest floor are heading straight for us in all directions. Damn it.
We're so close, pass this huge forest is my dad's pack house. His pack house is more old fashion. A two story wooded cabin. Due to over 100 pack members the width of the pack house is much longer than the height. This pack house is secluded deep in the woods. Hidden by the forest trees. There are very few windows. I never knew why my father didn't want windows everywhere. Maybe it's because of rougue werewolves that like to hang around pack houses and steak out the area. I'm not sure.
A familiar scent assaults my nose and it forces me to come to a halt. It's not the scent I want. It's not the scent of strawberries and chocolate.
Alpha? I hear Joseph say, sounding extremely worried. He trots up next to me.
I just shake my head in answer, rustling can be heard from leaves. It sounds like it's coming from all around us. We haven't even made it out of the inner forest towards the road to the pack house.
Not a second later, wolves of all kinds emerge from the trees. Some bigger than Joseph and I, but we can take them down with no problem. They all form a circle around us. Preventing us from escaping. Of course I can just barrel through them but, there isn't any water nearby. So using my powers is out of the question.
They are all in the ready stance. Just one command and they'll be all on us.
There it is again, the scent that disgust me to the very core. The scent of my father.
I shift into my human form and stand tall with my head held high. Showing all of these low life wolves that I will not back down. I will not act like so scared pup. Joseph does the same. Werewolves don't really care about nudity. It's like a second nature. The Moon Goddess says that our nakedness is our skin. We should not be ashamed of it.
"Father." I called out. Hoping that I didn't misplace his scent. It has been a while since I've been here.
Not at second later, a small portion of the crowd disperses. A tall man steps into the circle where Joseph and I are in.
That man, he's the one one who haunts my nightmares. His black hair, those green eyes that are like mine. He's wearing a fancy black suit, with matching black slacks and dress shoes. That must means he was at a pack meeting. That man always says dress to impress. He hasn't gotten any older than when I last saw him. He's as tall as me. He is also bigger than me too. Muscle wise.
The man, known as my father, stares at Joshua and I with a bored stare. "Daxter," My father says, irritation obviously radiating off of him.
I grit my teeth to hold back the urge to snap his neck. He knows my name isn't Daxter. What kind of sick game is this old fucker is playing?
My father sighs and looks away from me. He's clearly uninterested. "Dax, what do you want? I have a pack meeting to return to."
A growl erupts inside my chest. That causes all the other werewolves around us to growl at me. I guess they want to attack me since I basically challenged their Alpha. Joseph stands to my side and growls right back. The Beta side of him coming out.
How dare he play dumb with me. He knows exactly what he's done. "My mate." I seeth out through clenched teeth. This guy is seriously pissing me off. "Where the Hell is my mate?"
Confusion warps on to my father's face very quickly before his face becomes stoic.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." My father says with no emotion in his voice.
I'm very surprised that I held in my anger. "What do you mean? You know where my mate is. So where is he, old man?"
My father looks at me with a raised eyebrow. "Listen. Dax. To be truly honest, I have no idea what you're talking about. Honestly, I didn't even know you had a mate." He says sounding very sincere.
What? What the Hell is he on about? He didn't know I had a mate? "What? Are you serious?" I ask hesitantly. My heart sinks of the feeling of not having my mate. Where could he be? Joshua, where are you?
My father nods his head, "Yes, now if you'll excuse me. I have a pack meeting to return to." He turns to walk away. I suddenly remembered something, that girl, that girl who tried to kill me. Damn it, I forgot her name. She's irrelevant, but I need to ask my father one last question.
"Wait, father," I say, as I grab his suit sleeve to prevent him from walking any further. The wolves around us growl in warning. My father raises his hand to stop them and they immediately do. He turns and looks at me. His face clearly has irritated written all over it.
"What now?" I release the hold I have on his suit sleeve.
"Did you send a girl with black hair to come after me, and kill me?" I ask, my heart thumping wildy. Why is my heart beat accelerating? This isn't the first time my father has tried to kill me.
My father looks at me, his eyes wide and mouth hanging open a little. He seemed to gain his composure and looks away from me. "Listen Dax, I have tried to kill you in the past, but now that you have your own pack and you won't take away my position, I have no reason to kill you. No, I didn't send anyone to kill you." With that he walks away from me. Some of the wolves that were around us follows him. Others head off, deeper into the wood.
I stood there in complete shock. My father, he-he didn't send that girl out to kill me. If he didn't, then, who did? My head is spinning with possibilities. It couldn't be hunters. Hunters don't work with werewolves. I know it wasn't rouges. Rouges would have come after me themselves.
Joseph walks next to me and clamps his hand on my shoulder. "Alpha?" He says sounding extremely concerned.
I mentally shake my head to clear my thoughts. "Don't worry about me Joseph." I say as I look off into the forest.
Joshua, where are you? I miss you so much. I clench my teeth together to stop myself from crying. Joshua, I'm so confused, you're my rock. I love you so much. I wish I would have told you that. I need you by my side. I want you in my arms. Please Joshua, I need you.
A voice in my head claims my attention and makes my heart leap for absolute joy and hope.
Alpha, we have found a lead on Luna. Lucas's voice says in my head.
