David's POV

________________________________________________________________________________

"Guys, we need to talk about Emmalie." I was scared for her.

Her father was the vampire king. That meant she was in incredible danger. People would seek her out just to get to her father. I now understand why he left her. He left to protect her. But what about the others, they are normal, you can tell.

But to be sure we had Francis test their blood. Nothing special. Nothing even remotely close to Emmalie's. It doesn't even look like their related.

We also forgot one thing. Emmalie's powers. We never discussed what they were. I mean she has telepathy, and visions, and she seems to have telekinesis. But what if she has others. I think she may even have the power to manipulate emotions.

But that's not the worst of it. If she gets hurt I don't know what I'll do with myself. I mean she's my ray of sun. The apple of my eye. My one and only true love. My mate.

The ones who came were Fayette, Van, Francis, sadly Finn tagged along, Danni, and Reose. Though Danni and Reose seemed to stay awful quite

"What's going on?" asked Fayette.

"I just found out who Emmalie's father was. He happens to be the king of the vampires."

"Sir Lucas Beau?"

"Also known as Lucas Thames." I said pointedly at Finn and Francis. Francis cowered but Finn just looked suspicious.

He decided to stay but is careful not to stay near Danni for too long, though today seems different. I can't quite put my finger on it but there seems to be a..... peace of some sort, between them.

"Lucas Beau. OMG!!! Emmalie must be number one on everyone's hit list." Fayette exclaimed looking about nervously.

"We need to put tighter security on her." Van suggested.

"Well, we can see if maybe some of us can transfer into her classes. So that at least two of us are there with her. I know I don't look like much but I know my way about a spell and a sword."

"That's why she should be with me. At least I'd be able to protect her. Plus if there were someone coming I'd hear them." Finn said annoyed at the world I guess.

"What if they had a shield?" Fayette asked snottily.

"Emmalie, is a rare gem of sorts. I think she has a shield so large and powerful that it repels other shield's powers. When Emmalie's close enough by I can I hear your thoughts Danni, so I know what you're thinking about." He said growling while Danni and Reose sprang up.

"You know about.........?" Danni asked trailing off. She looked scared but why, why was she so scared.

"I know about you and that................mutt. How could you ever like him, even the least bit?!" Finn growled and Danni looked scared.

"Gus, I love him. He's my mate. And Finn, you broke it off with me, so you don't get to judge."

"But-" Finn started angrily but suddenly two people entered our space. Matt and a very sleepy Emmalie. I rushed over and she got out of Matt's arms and yawned.

She gave me a smile. One that said she was really happy. Like the toothy grin a little kid has. That exact one. And I loved her the more for it.

"But what?" Matt growled and Emmalie pumped her fist. You know, making fun of those clowns on the Jersey Shore. Although I still don't get her infatuation with that show, It's just odd.

"You go protecting your mate." She said and it made sense.

The so called 'mutt', who Danni was crying about, who she 'loved', and why Finn was so angry, finally made sense. Danni and Matt were mates. Which also explained why Emmalie was so giddy. He must have told her on the way.

"Yeah, so why is she leaving? Why are you making her leave her family behind?" Finn snarled at him. He was furious. Did he still harbor feelings? Or maybe he just wants her back? It could be that he's an over possessive jerk who is greedy and wants everything to himself. Probably the third thing.

"What?" Francis asked snapping me out of thinking to myself.

"We're leaving." Reose explained to us.

"What, you can't." Fayette yelled

"Reose, you need to think a little more." Francis yelled and Reose shook her head. They didn't understand why she needed to go to New Jersey. Why she had to go with them?

"Reose, don't make a rash decision like this. I know you love-"Maya started but Emmalie stopped her.

"I think you should go. Follow your heart and all that." Emmalie said coolly and Reose thought to herself 'I knew there was reason I liked Emmalie.'

"So, I'm going." Reose said and I smiled, at least my sister in law and niece were going to be taken care of by a good man. Now that Matt's not a rival for, I actually like him.

"You sure. I mean, I'm all for you for going but we're friends. I wanted to give yourself just a minute to make sure the pros outweigh the cons." Emmalie said and so Reose spent a minute doing just that. But in the end she nodded, indicating her answer.

With her mom she would go. And I was happy for her. I knew that Reose, as well as Danni and Matt, deserve all the happiness they can get.

"So when will you guys are leaving?" Emmalie asked looking at the three of them.

Emmalie's POV

________________________________________________________________________________

They look like a family. Matt is the father, strong. The patriarch of the family. You know he loves Reose and Danni because that's how he looks at them.

Then there's Danni and standing there with two other two. She looks so maternal. It's weird, she just radiates it. I guess being with Finn and then being alone suppressed that. But now she looks like the happy person she deserves to be.

Reose looked just like she could actually be her daughter. I mean she has his chin and his oval shaped head. She had his not too athletic build, but a bit something else. It was amazing.

I think this was meant to be. My coming here lead to finding out about my father, finding out about my half-humanness, and Danni may have never met her one, true mate. But most importantly, I got to meet everyone and.........

"Hay sweetie." He said closing the distance between us. I smiled and met him halfway, our lips finding each other in blissful mutuality.
