H-hey, Wattpad! I still exist! I forgot to transfer over chapters from Quotev + I made a new chapter (this one)

Tell me how you're sleeping easy...

The wind stung (Y/n)'s face as she walked along a familiar trail. She always came here to clear her head, but it wasn't working today. No surprise there. She knew she shouldn't be out alone, not when there was a possibility that a murderer was out there. Not with Stacy- sweet, sweet Stacy- gone.

Dead.

The word brought tears to her eyes.

Her boots crunched over the leaves littering the path. (Y/n) wrapped her arms around herself, trying to keep out the cold. But it wasn't the cold that made her tremble right now. It was the lack of Stacy's laugh, the phantom touch of her best friend linking arms with her.

(Y/n) blinked away tears, staring at the horizon, completely unaware that she wasn't alone.

How long had it been since Eren had seen her? Two weeks? Three? A month?

His heart pounded in his chest as her figure appeared between the trees. His throat went dry and he stumbled, zombie-like, towards her.

She was completely alone. His breath hitched as his eyes glazed over with longing. "(Y/n)..." he whispered, hardly able to believe his luck.

A hand slammed against his chest, shoving him onto the earth below and knocking the air out of his lungs.

"Back off."

Eren's eyes widened as he locked gazes with the figure above him. Annie's expression was cold, blue eyes narrowed. He clenched his jaw and curled his hands into fists, ready to beat the pulp out of Eren.

"Annie?" Eren hissed, surprised and furious at the same time, "What are you doing?"

"I should be asking you that," Annie snarled, "Why are you here?"

Eren spoke through clenched teeth, "I needed to make sure she was okay-"

"You don't get to check in on her anymore," Annie sneered, "You shouldn't be near her."

"She's my-"

"Don't." Annie stepped closer as Eren got to his feet, "Don't pretend like you care. Not after what you just did."

"What I just did?" Eren was genuinely confused, "I've been in hiding. What are you accusing me of now?"

Annie's eyes widened, "You don't know?"

Eren frowned, "Know what?"

"Stacy," Annie spat, "She's dead. Murdered."

Eren's breath hitched. (Y/n)'s best friend was dead? "What?"

"Don't act shocked."

"I'm not acting," Eren insisted, "Stacy is- no, no that doesn't make sense." His eyes narrowed, "I didn't touch her."

Annie's lip curled, "How convenient."

"I didn't touch her," Eren insisted, his voice rising, "I didn't even know she was dead!"

The forest fell quiet. Annie stared at Eren, trying to gauge whether he was lying or not. Meanwhile, Eren was in shock.

Stacy dead. Murdered. And (Y/n)... Alone and grieving. His expression softened.

"No," Annie growled, "You don't get to think about her," he stepped forward, "You don't get to look at her like that. She's been through enough without you creeping back into her life like some overgrown parasite."

"I didn't kill Stacy!"

"Then where the hell were you?" Annie snapped.

Eren hesitated. The truth could lead to him being snitched on. He didn't want to end up in jail, if only for the reason that he'd never get close to (Y/n) ever again. "I can't tell you."

"Then I'll assume you're guilty," Annie said, stepped forward so that he was chest to chest with Eren, "And I won't let you anywhere near her."

A sound behind them made both of their heads snap up. Soft, hesitant footsteps. Then...

"Annie?" (Y/n)'s voice called, soft and unsure.

Eren froze.

"(Y/n), go back home," Annie called quickly, "It's not safe out here."

Eren's breathing became erratic. He wanted to say so much to her. I miss you. I'm sorry. I love you.

"Eren?" (Y/n)'s voice cracked, fear creeping into her voice, "Is that you?"

Annie tensed as Eren said "(Y/n)..."

She stood on the path, her eyes puffy from crying. Her hands clutched the hem of her shirt as she trembled in both cold and fear.

Eren took a step towards her, but Annie immediately stepped in front of him.

"Don't."

"Out of my way, Annie," Eren hissed.

(Y/n) took a step back, "What... What are you doing here?"

Eren looked at her, desperation flooding him. "I didn't know," he said, breathing irregularly, "I didn't know about Stacy, I swear. I would never hurt her."

"Run, (Y/n)! Go home!" Annie cried, "I won't let him near you!"

(Y/n) turned on her heels and shot off down the path towards her neighborhood. Eren tried to follow, but he received a swift punch to the stomach, courtesy of Annie.

"Stay the hell away from her," Annie warned, "Or there'll be another murder."
