"Padfoot," Peter cheered, rushing over to give him an awkward, airy hug. "How are you?"

"I'm feeling better," Sirius said uncertainly. "Thanks, Pete. I can't believe we go back to school today."

Amara dropped her last bag by the doorway. "If Marlene will ever gain a sense of urgency, that is."

"I told you, I'm coming," Marlene grumbled, thudding her trunk down the stairs one by one. "I had a slow start, sue me."

"Sorry, Mar, you're what?" Sirius called from the living room.

Amara rolled her eyes and took Marlene's trunk off her. "Have you got anything else upstairs?"

"No, that's all. LILY!"

"What?" came a muffled, disgruntled tone from upstairs.

James smiled, bounding up the stairs. "D'you need help with your bags, Lily?"

"Er, sure. Thanks, James."

Marlene shook her head. "I need coffee before I see them interact," she muttered.

"Right behind you," Amara agreed.

By the time the two girls had made, consumed, and taken care off all things related to their coffee, the rest of the group was pretty much ready to go. After bidding a heartfelt goodbye to Fleamont, Euphemia piled them into the family's old car.

It was a recent purchase; secondhand; but Euphemia enjoyed taking it to town to get groceries at the nearby Muggle village, and it was nice for dropping them off at the station.

Platform Nine and Three Quarters was not as crowded as it usually was. Amara noticed, but when James shot her a look, she opted to stay quiet.

Sirius, however, missed that cue.

"Looks like everyone's too scared to get murdered," he said bleakly, lugging his trunk off of the cart they were sharing.

"Do you have to say everything you're thinking?" Remus sighed, rolling his eyes. He turned to Euphemia. "Thank you for having all of us, Mia."

She reached out to hug him. "It's always a pleasure, dear," she said warmly, rubbing his back. She pulled apart, grabbing his shoulders and smiling at him. "Please come by anytime."

"Mia," Marlene lamented, moving in next for her hug. "You're a hero."

Lily embraced her after. "Thank you for having all of us, Mia."

And then it was Sirius's turn. His eyes were glistening. "I don't know what to say," he began uncertainly. "You've done so much for me."

"Sirius, there's nothing we wouldn't do," she said gently. "You're a son to us."
