Chapter 15: Accidental love

Accidental Love

Devon was the first one to snap out of the shock and introduced herself, “Nice to meet you two. My name is Devon and I want to be the first to welcome you to the refugee camp”

Nico responded to the hospitality saying “I’m sorry we just dropped in, but we have been on the run for three days. Ever since those two left; Ms. Live has been working the class to try and find them. Him especially!” He then pointed at Cliff to demonstrate his meaning. He then continued by saying “She said that he is her best warrior. That he has more chance of getting Ember to cooperate, but we came to warn you. They have been following us through the forest and it was just by luck that we found you now” he ended his explanation and Ava continued by saying.

“We didn’t mean to lead them here, but we have been on the run for days. They have chased us and tried to grab us. When they did some black thing would try to go into us. It almost got Nico, but I was able to blast it away. Speaking of which how can we even do what we have been doing over the last three days” She demonstrated her point by summoning a flame in her palm. It licked at her hand not burning it, and she stared at it mystified. Putting her hand in the flame and laughing. Nico looked at me and then a huge gust of wind started to blow through the treetops. Blowing everything every which way.

I didn’t even know that their powers were so developed. Just one thing bothered me, “Why are you two even together. You hate each other!” I knew the answer.

It was true love. Even in a new world their love has resurfaced.

Ava started to blush and explained “Nico saved me from being changed by one of those black things. He saw me and blasted everyone in the classroom away. Then he grabbed me and we ran for the door it was blocked, but he turned and headed for the window. He was running as fast as the wind. It was amazing. He jumped through the window and we ran far into the forest. He saved my life” She blushed and gazed at him. I could just imagine the red cartoon hearts in their eyes and floating around. They leaned into each other and I could see that they were exhausted but I had to ask one more question.

“Where are the rest of the class? The ones who were chasing you!” Nico answered that one.

“They were right behind us yesterday, but I was able to fly us to the treetops for protection. We traveled through the treetops for the rest of the trip, and haven’t seen them since. I’d say we got around three days before they are able to find the place, and why do they want him?” He ended it by pointing again at Cliff. Cliff started to shake, but he was able to explain what happened.

“She wants me because I was the strongest earth bender. She knew that I had the best chance of getting Ember. The reason being because she saw that Ember liked me and would listen to me. She also knew that I would do anything for Ember because I loved her and cared for her” At that he started to blush red and everybody stared at me. I was too giddy to even answer.

He continued, “She placed a demon inside of me to control my actions, but as you can see it is no longer here. I was able to get rid of it. Not by my choice but the demon insisted. It made me transfer it to George, and now he has the demon. So f*** Ms. Live. Her warrior now has a mind of his own!” I stared in amazement; that was the most that I ever really heard him say. Plus he said that he loved me!

Everyone was staring at us after his rant. He had a self satisfied smug and I was as red as my hair. Thankfully Ava took charge of the situation. “So where do we sleep?”

Gerard stepped forward and offered to share his hut with Cliff and Nico. Devon looked at me with a grin on her face and said “Ava stays with us of course. It’s a girl’s night!” she looked at both of us and mouthed “I expect details”. Then we all broke into laughter.
