Similarities
I watched as George whipped more water in our direction. Cliff wrapped me in his arms and braced the attack.
Then he ran to the hill and set me down. His black eyes burning with hate. He then turned to face George; his black eyes now gleaming in anticipation of the fight.
Both of them were built, lean, strong, and talented. This was going to be a very interesting fight. They were circling each other squaring off while measuring the strengths and weaknesses of each other.
Cliff then snapped his hands above his head and lunged them towards George. A boulder came out of the earth and plummeted towards him. George was ready for the attack and summoned water from the lake. While twisting he manipulated it to have enough force to knock the boulder off course. Grinning he said mockingly, “My turn” and moving like a snake whipped out water in a continuous motion. One whip following the other. Each slashing across Cliff’s face while he was manipulating a rock wall to defend himself. The whip attack had to stop because he was being affected by it no longer.
It went on for quite a while. They were equal matches. When one attacks the other defends, and vice versa. There was a similarity in the way that they were both fighting, and the way that they were positioning themselves in each attack/ defense maneuver. They were evenly matched no one gaining more ground above the other. Without the hair, eyes and different elements
manipulated they could be twins.
George was satin smooth while Cliff was rigid and stiff. Still there was something about what I noticed when they were together.
I remember hearing about twins in the story George was telling me. The general had a wife; she died giving birth to twins. Similar but opposite! One was a water bender and sent to a village where he will be safe.
The other was an earth bender and was sent to a new world. This world!
Watching again at the two fighting; I could mark many similarities between the way they both moved, height, weight, the maneuvers used, even the faces they make while fighting. This will go on forever if I don’t stop it. So I gathered all my energy, and focused it on making a wall between the two. I raised my hands and stomped my foot.
The echo that resonated was enough to snap them out of the fight by itself. They both looked up towards me. George with his beach blond hair, aqua blue eyes; then I looked over at Cliff. Cliff, soft, brown hair falling into his eyes. At this moment they have hardened into onyx, but I know that behind those rock demon are soft, brown, peaceful eyes waiting to be revealed.
They are so opposite, but at the same time that is what makes them so similar. Both are still looking up at me waiting for a reason for why I interrupted their fight. I could tell they both wanted to know what was wrong. Cliff voiced it first “Ember what is wrong? Am I taking too long?”, followed by a question from George.
“Ember what is it?” he didn’t care about what was wrong. Just why I stopped their fight. I watched as they both ran up to meet me on top of the hill. Reaching it at the same moment, and doing the same thing. They both tried to comfort me.
“Are you okay Ember. I will soon take you home”, Cliff.
“Ember you look like you need to rest. Let me take you home”, George.
I could just look at their faces filled with worry, but I couldn’t help but wonder. Was it for my powers, or because they truly cared about me. They both reached up to me ready to take me “Home”, but where is home?
