"Ella, no! come back here sweetie!"

Lisa's voice rang sharply across the yard, laced with both panic and exasperation. "Ella! Don't play in the mud!"

The little girl halted mid-skip, her bare feet caked with sticky brown earth. Her innocent eyes darted toward her mother, widening at the scolding tone. But before Ella could utter a single word in defense, another voice joined in—softer, amused, and drenched in that familiar warmth.

"Let her play wherever she wants," Jennie said, stepping out of the house with a serene smile on her face, her arms crossed but her stance relaxed.

Ella's whole face lit up as she spun around with joy, curly hair bouncing with every movement. "Yay! Thank you, Mommy!"

With that, she jumped back into the puddle gleefully, the splash sending droplets everywhere—onto her legs, arms, her oversized shirt, and even the little clips in her hair. Her clothes stuck to her skin, darkened by wet dirt, and her laughter echoed throughout the garden like the happiest sound in the world.

Lisa sighed heavily, watching her daughter roll in mud like a little piglet. "You're spoiling your daughter," she muttered, shaking her head as she glanced at Jennie, who was now standing beside her, watching their daughter with eyes full of affection.

"She's just a kid," Jennie said, bumping her shoulder lightly against Lisa's. "Stop being strict. Let her enjoy while she's still young."

"But it's dirty," Lisa said with a grimace. "She might get bacteria, or catch a cold. What if—"

Jennie turned to her with a playful smirk. "I'll give her a warm shower after this, hon. So stop worrying."

Lisa pouted, arms still crossed, clearly defeated. "Fine. You win."

That made Jennie burst into laughter, her trademark gummy smile glowing under the sunlight. Lisa felt her resolve melt instantly. That smile could disarm armies.

A few minutes later, both of them turned the camera again, waving as Lisa said, "Say hi, Ella!"

The little girl turned around. Her face, now streaked with dried dirt and some grass stuck to her cheeks, looked adorably messy. But even under all that grime, Ella was beautiful. Her features—a perfect blend of both her mothers—shone through. She had Jennie's signature cat eyes, her dainty nose, and small lips. But her eyebrows and thick eyelashes were unmistakably from Lisa. She was six years old, full of energy, mischief, and sunshine.

"Hi mama and mommy!"

"I love you baby, Ella!

"I yaybyu twoo.."

"You're watching that again.."

Lisa whispered, settling beside her and wrapping her arms around Jennie's waist.

Lisa entered the living room, holding a cup of tea, and paused upon seeing Jennie quietly watching her favorite video of Ella. She placed the cup down on the side table before walking over.

Jennie leaned her head against Lisa's shoulder with a soft sigh. "I miss her so much, Lisa."

"I know," Lisa whispered, her tone aching with the same emptiness. "I miss her too."

There was a beat of silence before Jennie spoke again, her voice barely audible. "I didn't want her to become an idol... I really didn't."

Lisa looked down at her, their fingers intertwining without even thinking. "But that's what she wanted, right? And she looks happy now."
