"I think you should do it," Jared said.
"I want to do it, but what if I'm no good at it?" I asked as we stood outside of the the pack house.
"I've seen you in action, you're fantastic at it. Just be confident when you ask."
"You're right, I am going to do this," I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. Will, a guy who goes to my school, answered the door. He gave me a weird look then stepped aside.
"What are you doing here?" He asked as he led me into the living room. My eyes widened as I took in the scene before me. Zach was laying on the couch with only shorts on playing a video game with another guy. I was staring so hard at his abs that I didn't notice that they were all looking at me. I had a hard time tearing my eyes away from his delicious body.
"Did you need something?" Zach asked. He didn't sneer it, nor did he ask like he was happy to see me. It was a legit question and my mind blanked.
"We came to see the Alpha." Jared came to my rescue. I smiled a silent thank you to him.
"Go past the kitchen, down the hallway, fourth door on the left," Zach said as he returned to his game. My gaze wandered back down his body and I knew I had to be drooling. I shook my head and turned to go find the alpha. I had no idea where the kitchen was so I just guessed. This house was gigantic so I just knew I was going to get lost. Jared has been here before though so he knew where he was going. He had to get permission from the alpha of the territory before he could stay here for a little while. I knocked on the alpha's office and he called me in.
"Piper, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Alpha Ryan asked. I bowed my head in respect for him.
"I have something I need to ask you," I said and he pointed to the two seats in front of his desk.
"Ask away."
"I, Piper Listford, pledge myself as Cantaloupe Pack Warrior." Alpha Ryan's eyes widened a fraction before he recovered.
"Piper, are you sure this is what you want?"
"Yes, I want this more than anything."
"You know that you could possibly die in a battle. You are going to have to start training with the other warriors. I want you to know that this will take up most of your time. Warriors train five days out of the week."
"I know all that. I really want to do this. Please Alpha Ryan," I pleaded with puppy dog eyes. I knew it was a long shot for me to get in considering my rank. My family wasn't exactly up there in rank with all the top dogs.
"Well I can't just except your pledge. I need to talk to my Beta and third in command. I also need to see if you can actually fight. Tomorrow, right after you get out of school, be at the pack gym."
"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed and bowed my head before practically jumping for joy out of his office.
"I told you that you could do it," Jared said with a hundred watt smile.
"I can't believe that he's actually considering this!" I said as we walked through their living room.
"Hey Piper, can I talk to you for a minute?" Will asked as he put his controller down. I've never talked to him in my life and I honestly hadn't known that he knew my name.
"Um, I guess," I said and followed him out of the room. I wonder what he wanted to talk about. I glanced back at Jared who was wearing a questioning face. I just shrugged.
"So I never really noticed you much. I mean, I knew you were in the pack and everything, I just never paid you much attention," he mumbled and shoved his hands in his pockets. He was actually very good looking. He had short dark hair with chocolate eyes. He had to be a little taller than six foot with muscles that his shirt hid as much as glass hides water.
