Beep... Beep... Beep
Whatever machine was making that beeping noise really needed to shut up! I have a massive headache and that is so not making it better. I grabbed my pillow and slammed it over my head. The scratchy material did nothing but worsen it. Wait, scratchy material? I have Egyptian cotton sheets! I slowly peeled the pillow away from my face and opened my eyes. My vision was blurry at first so I had to blink a few times. I was in a completely white room with machines all along the walls. There were a few hooked up to me. Now I knew what that beeping noise was. I am in a hospital room.
I glanced across the room and someone was sleeping in the chair. I couldn't see their face because their neck was bent back all the way. That definitely could not be comfortable. Then my wolf went crazy. Oh my gosh... I grabbed one of my pillows and chunked it at him. He jumped from the impact and his chair tipped backwards. I let out a giggle when he fell to the ground.
"Glad I amuse you," he grumbled and stood up.
"Why are you here?" I got right down to business.
"I figured that I would stay the night since no one else was going to." I went to sit up and gasped at the pain it created in my stomach. I grabbed at it and felt the bandages. Zach was immediately at my side and he eased me back into a laying position.
"You're going to have to take it easy for a while. You got shot twice and it's going to take you at least to a week to heal." I know what you're thinking, I'm a werewolf, I should heal fast. Well, I'm not a freaking superhero! I might heal faster than humans but it takes me longer than what fictional werewolf stories normally say. I'm not Jacob Black, I can't heal all the broken bones in my body in one day.
I thought about what had happened yesterday. Those people were so cruel. I don't know what I did to them, but they hated me. No, they despised me. I turned to Zach with bitter eyes and whispered, "What did you do to them?"
"If you're thinking that I killed them, I didn't," he said with a humorless laugh.
"They're still out there?" I asked with a shudder. The thought of them coming after me again was terrible. I didn't want those monsters anywhere near me.
"Don't worry, I won't let them get near you." I gave him a grateful smile that turned into a suspicious look. Why is he being so nice to me? Wasn't it just the other week that he was spreading rumors about me having herpes?
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Why are you really here?"
"What do you mean? You were hurt so I stayed to see when you got better."
"Where are my parents? Jared? Will? Alpha Ryan?" When I said Jared and Wills name, he growled.
"They're in the lobby."
"And you didn't think to tell them that I am awake?!"
"I just wanted you to myself for a little bit. Is that such a crime?"
"I got shot twice, don't you think my parents should should be here?!" Zach wore a guilty expression before he left the room. A few minutes later Will came barrelling into my room. He cradled me to his chest. Well, he was cradling me to his chest until he got shoved away.
"Dude! What the hell was that for?!" Will was looking at Zach, bewildered.
"You need to keep your hands off her," Zach growled and my eyes widened. He was not about to blow our secret with everyone in the room.
"What are you talking about? You're not the one that's dating her." Zach's hands balled into fist and he pushed them on his temples. He was squeezing his eyes shut and I knew he was having a hard time holding his wolf back. "Are you okay?" I was hoping Will would just stop talking. He was only making it worse. I didn't like the state Zach was in. He looked furious, hurt, and even slightly guilty.
