I snuggled further into the warm sheets and tried to block out the knocking. I just wanted to sleep in this morning. I didn't want to go to school or deal with my friends. I knew they were going to ask me why I left the hospital. I couldn't tell them it was because Kara found her mate. That sounds so selfish, which it kind of is.

The knocking only increased in volume and I threw my pillow at the door. A deep chuckle came from behind it and my stomach irrupted into butterflies. Even his laugh had my wolf going insane. I stumbled out of bed and walked to the door half awake. My eyes were barely slits as I opened the door.

"Morning sleepy head," he chuckled.

"Shoot me," I grumbled and shuffled back to the bed. I buried myself in the sheets again and sighed with contentment. Zach walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.

"You better hurry and get up if you plan on making it to school on time."

"I'm not going," I said from under my pillow.

"You have to go. Sorry Piper, I don't make the rules." I sat up and rubbed my sleepy eyes. I knew my hair was a wild mess but I just did not care at that moment.

"Can't you cover for me? Tell them that I'm sick or something. Actually, thinking about it, I feel like I'm coming down with something," I said then coughed. He gave me a disapproving look then shook his head. There was a ghost of a smile playing on his lips though. He grabbed my hand and hauled me out of bed.

"Sorry, you're going to school and that's that," he said before leaving me standing in the middle of the room. I glanced at the door then dove for the bed. There was no way I was going to school. He could beg me with everything in him, but I wasn't going.

A little bird told me that you weren't going to school. Warriors have to go to school, sorry Piper. Alpha Ryan mind-linked me. I grumbled and sat up. Today was going to be hell.

I parked in my parking spot for school as the late bell rang. After I got up from the pack house, I ran home and had to hurry to get changed and make it back. I was still late, but it was only by a minute. I walked into first period and Kara gave me a questioning look. I just shook my head and took my seat next to hers. I didn't get one minute into class before she tossed a note onto my desk.

You smell like him. She wrote in her girly handwriting.

I slept at the pack house last night. How are you and Jared doing?

He is so sweet! I think he is the best mate I could have been blessed with.

I'm glad that you two got paired together. You deserve a nice guy.

So do you. I want to pummel Zach for how he treats you. You are better off with Will.

I do like Will, but I think things are turning up for Zach and I.

Are you sure about this? I just don't want what he did to you happen again.

It's not going to. I trust Zach now.

Maybe that's your problem.

I was walking to lunch when I walked passed Zach. He glanced at me and gave me a brief smile, then kept walking. I thought that is was strange that he wasn't walking to the lunchroom, but I let it slide. Maybe he has to go to the bathroom or something.

I was laughing with all my friends about a joke Marcus said. It was something stupid but I was in a super good mood today. I felt the presence of Zach walk into the lunchroom and I refused to look at him. I'm not going to become that super clingy girl now that he's acknowledged that we're mates. I've seen girls like that and it really doesn't look good for them.
