I was in the hospital for just two nights, and then I was treated differently the rest of the week.

I still had that same nightmare every night; it never ceased to make me wake with tears in my eyes and Calvin's name on my lips.

I knew something was weird when I woke up.

There was a lot of rustling.

One of the few times I was home over break and not at Molly's and now there was burglar in the house.

Carefully, I got up, holding my breath. I looked around my room for anything to defend myself with. I winced as I picked up a large stuffed bear, feeling like my masculinity was at stake. I opened the door, and made my way out.

My heart stopped when I heard voices.

"Shh! We can't wake him up!"

Slam!

"Good going!"

Was that Molly? I frowned, getting ready to walk around the corner when-

"Hey, Simon."

With an unmanly shriek, I spun around, throwing the bear at Calvin.

Calvin, that butt, easily caught it. He arched an eyebrow. "Really, Simon? Still sleep with a teddy at night?"

I fought off a scowl and a blush, but the latter succeeeded in making my skin hot. "Shut up. At least I don't still have a rocket ship coverlet."

Calvin's face turned pink, and got a deadly look in his eyes. "Simon, I swear to God-" His hand shoots out to grab my wrist, and I easily dodge it, stumbling away from his grasp.

"Come back here!" He called, and I felt awesome.

I was running away from Calvin. And I was winning.

And then I tripped over the leg of the coffee table. I blame my concussion, but we both know that I'm just clumsy.

"Aha!" Calvin said, straddling me, pinning my arms above my head. I felt my face flush, my breathing heavy from running around my house.

I laughed, wiggling a little. "You'll never take me alive!" I joked, but it lost some of its muster when I realized what position we were in.

Calvin's green-gold eyes widened, and he stiffened. Waves of heat and electricity burned through my veins and it was hard to breathe. He shifted his weight, eyes never leaving my face, but that didn't help because it put pressure on my-

"Simon! Good to see you're up and well!" Gwen chirped, and Calvin fell off of me.

I quickly sat up, blushing like crazy, hoping no one would notice that... Ugh...

I refuse to say it on camera.

"Yeah. Simon sicked a teddy bear on me." Calvin said casually, and I envied him for not being affected by what just happened.

"Mm," I agreed, then remembered why I had the bear in the first place. "What are you guys doing here, anyways?"

"Don't you know what day it is?" Molly squeaked excitedly, in her coat and boots.

I blinked. "It's not Christmas, is it?"

After I got out of the hospital, Molly and Gwen came over and watched Netflix with me while I laid on the couch, resting my brain. Molly apologized for telling Calvin that I still loved him started crying, and so did Gwen, and then I started crying. Our heart to heart was brief, but I knew that they were sorry and must've been terrified to lose me; I decided that life is too short to make your best friends feel bad when they're already in agony.
