Chapter 1

My pov

I feel the wind as my blonde golden hair blows in my face. I try to get it out of my face, but I'm too happy. I laugh as my best friend Niall tackles me onto the soft green grass.

"No fair that was cheating!" I say, as he smiles brightly.

"I don't think it was! You were the one who said we play who can run down the hill without getting caught." He says, his accent light and joking.

I get up and look into his piercing blue eyes.

"Whatever. It's fine." I say, looking out at the darkening sky.

The summer days were going by fast and I wondered how long we both really had. We had literally been best friends since we were practically born. Not that close but it'd been a long time.

"You know I'm going to miss this.. Just sitting here with you." He says.

I smile and look at him. His blonde golden hair a mess against his head with those bright blue caring eyes.

"Yeah but it won't be long will it?" I ask.

"Only maybe 4 weeks if I even make it that far on the X factor." He says, softly, like he was sure he wouldn't really make it. I put my hand on his shoulder and look at him.

"Niall Horan you are on of the best singers here. The whole town knows it. I know you'll do great." I say.

He looks at me with confidence burning like blue fire in his eyes and nods at me.

"I will Kylie don't worry. I'll make you proud." He says...

That was 4 years ago. Those 4 years of utter shock when my best friend had gotten to travel everywhere with the biggest boy band ever. They were called one direction.

I smile recalling the memory of when we were only 16. Maybe he would come visit here again. I wondered if he would remember me. I wanted to think he would, but I didn't know. We had lost contact over the years, though when he left we were still very close.

I sigh as the door rings notifying me that a customer was here. I got up to the counter and smile not really paying attention until a familiar voice comes to my ears.

"Kylie is that you?" Niall says.

I turn around to see Niall. I stare slightly shocked that he was actually in the coffee shop I worked at. His eyes were brighter and his hair had slight streaks of brown in his blonde spiked hair. That looked lighter against the sun shining through the windows.

"Niall.. Are you really here." I say, walking around the counter to stand in front of him. His smile lights up those distant memories in my mind.

The memories I wish I could go back and relive.

He smiles and hugs me. His arms lightly around my waist. I hug him back overwhelmed with feelings as a tear slips down my face.

I smile and pull away wiping the tear away quickly.

"Don't cry Kylie. That would make me sad too." He says, looking at me.

"Sorry. I'm just really surprised you're back. I never thought that you'd come." I say, softly.

"Who wouldn't come see their best friend?" He asks.

I shake my head smiling.

"I don't know... You never cease to make me happy still you know that right." I say.

He nods and folds his arms over his blue sweater.

"So um I want to hang out. Is there any way you can get off so that can happen?" He asks, his voice almost pleading with me. I smirk and nod putting my apron I wore on the hanger by the back door.

I come back and smile as Niall takes my hand. It was just like old times....
