Nialls pov
Before the date:
Harry's eyes look into mine seriously as he pulls me aside from the others.
"We need to talk about another rule in this bet." He says, his voice holding that familiar tone of an idea.
"Gosh Harry it's just one more thing I have to remember. Honestly I'm so bad at that. I'm the one whose supposed to do everything right." I say, frustratedly.
"Just hear me out for one second." He says, looking at the others.
He probably didn't want them to over hear once again.
"You can't get help planning the dates. Not from Louis or Liam.." He says, but I cut him off.
"Not even Mark?" I ask, slightly whining.
He shakes his head no and I cross my arms sadly.
"I guess that's fair." I say, softly.
"Good." Harry says, patting me on the shoulder and walking away. Leaving me alone in the hallway.
Guilt eats away at my heart because I had told Louis and Liam. They helped me get the soccer field open that night. I cringe trying not to show my feelings as I go back out into the room.
20 minutes before the date:
"Guys quit it I have to get ready!" I yell, laughing as they tackle me to the soft carpet.
"I have to pick her up in 20 minutes. So please." I say, feeling their weight lessen.
"All we want to see is you have fun." Louis says.
I smile appreciating their concerns.
"I'll be fine. I've done this before." I say, going over to a rack that had multiple shirts on it.
"You go get her Niall." Liam says, smiling.
"I give some luck to Harry too." Louis says, laughing as he hits him on the shoulder.
I pick out a white short sleeve shirt that had my favorite soccer team name on it and throw it on. I ruffle my hair quickly checking the time only 10 minutes. That should be enough time.
"Ok guys I'm going!" I say, looking around for them in the small living room.
"Have fun!" Liam says.
That's all I get and I shrug. They must of been playing video games or something to pass the time. I walk out the door and quickly go down the stairs to the waiting SUV. I hoped that this went well.
The date:
I knock on Kylie's door as I look up at the darkening sky. I hoped that it didn't rain.. That'd be really sad if we couldn't play just be used of that.
Kylie opens the door smiling. Her blue eyes meet mine and I smile. She was in a blue long sleeve shirt with pink flowers and jeans and converse on.
"You look beautiful." I say, holding my hand out.
She blushes and smiles taking my hand.
"Well you look really handsome." She says, getting in the SUV. It's smooth leather seats feeling familiar as always.
"So where are we going?" She asks, her warm hand still holding mine.
"That's top secret I can't tell you." I say, seriously.
"Pulling that one again Niall!" She says, laughing.
I used to say that all the time when I was young. We'd pretend to be spy's and would name our locations. Mostly they were top secret. Only the two of us knew them. I smile thinking back to then. Everything was so different now..
After a few minutes of driving the car pulls up. Gravel flicking off the runner wheels. The lights to the field were off and I was starting to doubt that maybe they hadn't followed up on it.
"Ok this is good." I say, to Kevin our driver. He nods and I open the door taking Kylie's hand as she jumps down onto the gravel.
"Ooh cool." She says, looking around the parking lot.
"Come on." I say, pulling her quickly up to the grassy field that was still not lit.
"Ok I'm coming." She says, laughing.
The lights flash on and I put my hand up, squinting at the brightness of them.
"Oh my gosh Niall.." She says, putting her hand over her mouth in shock.
I look to see a picnic set up beside the field. With a whole set of food and sparkling apple cider. I smile. I had done that part, but this was all with some help from Louis and Liam. I feel the guilt creep up again, but I push it back down.
"Before we go over there though. I challenge you to a soccer game." I say, running over to a soccer ball and kicking it over to her. She laughs and stops it with her foot. That light in her eyes turning into fire that burned to win.
"I'm going to win this Niall. I'm not going to loose like in middle school." She says, smiling brightly.
"Show me what you got!" I say, beckoning for her to come and get me. She smirks dribbling the ball past me as I run behind her and take the ball swiftly kicking it.
"Hey!" She yells, her voice fading as I show off my moves and make a goal. I smile and jog back to the middle as Kylie goes and gets the ball.
I look at her and she smiles running again with the ball. Her feet move swiftly and I try and take it but am thrown off as my foot misses the ball and I fall onto the grass.
I hear the swish of the goal and look up to see Kylie's eyes bright with happiness. I smile and get the ball this time. The darkening clouds that hung above us like a mural. It was beautiful, but I hoped it didn't rain.
Just as me and Kylie are barreling for the ball once again I feel the light raindrops hit my arms. I quickly pull Kylie into a hug.
"Hey what are you doing this is soccer not hug your neighbor." She says, laughing as the rain comes in a flurry.
She hugs me back and I look into her eyes as she pulls away. All the happiness that we had shared. It was all there and I smile.
I push her back gently and take the ball and run up the field. I hear her shoes splashing in the puddles as I slow down. Her feet slide past me and she grabs onto me as we both fall onto the muddy field.
"That's what you get for taking it." She says, laughing as she picks up a handful of mud and throws it at me.
"Ok then you'll get something for that!" I yell, sending a borage of mud balls at her. She covers her face laughing as she tries to throw one again but misses.
I laugh and hold up my hands on defeat. She nods and comes over to me smiling as mud drips down her face and is smeared all over her clothes.
"Nice look." I say, getting her wet hair out of her face.
"You look better though." She says, smiling.
"How so?" I ask.
She shows me with a small mirror in her bag. She had drawn car whiskers from wiping away the mud.
I laugh and put my arm around her shoulder. This was more than the best date. It was perfect, just being myself with her.
"Might as well just go out since it's kinda ruined with the rain." She says, looking over at what I had set up sadly.
"That's ok it'll be better out of the rain." I say, laughing.
We run back over to the SUV that shimmered in the pouring rain.
I let Kylie get in first and plop onto the seat putting my seatbelt on.
"Hey let's just go to a restaurant Kevin." I say.
Kevin nods and soon were on our way to a hopefully good dinner.
I look over at Kylie who is shivering.
"Hey have my coat. Your shivering." I say, taking off my light coat and putting it around her shoulders.
She smiles and leans her head on my shoulder.
"Thanks Niall." She says.
The rain dims into a dark night after we get into town. I smile and hope that it would just keep getting better.
Kevin parks beside the plaza that was lined with multiple shops and restaurants.
"Let's go get some food. I'm really hungry." I say.
"You're always hungry Niall, but I agree I am also hungry." She says, sitting up.
We get out and I take her hand leading her up the steps into the plaza. It was well lit and people scurried around either to find a place to eat or just enjoy the night.
I smile until I see Harry walking quickly towards us. I hear Louis and Liam yelling at him to stop. This was it. The last thing I had wanted to go wrong on my date...
