Chapter 4
Nialls pov
I look at Harry who was standing next to me. Why did he have to make a big deal about this. I was the one who knew her.. I sigh and look over at Kylie who was still sleeping on the couch.
She must of been really tired. I planned to ask her once she was awake. I didn't need Harry to go first. I was planning the perfect date..
"Come on lads time to go!" Mark says.
I sigh and go up to the stage entrance. Millions of fans were screaming. I just needed to focus on tonight's performance. Then I could worry about the competition.
I smile at my mates even though it was tense. Someone had to be there to make them laugh. I smile and step out letting everything in my mind fade away.
A few hours later..
I get off stage drenched by the cool rain that had fallen when we performed.
"Great show boys!" Mark says.
I nod quickly and run over to the couch. Kylie say there yawning like she had just gotten up.
"Hey Niall." She says, smiling and scooting over so I can sit beside her.
I smile as nerves hit me for the first time.
"I uh want to ask you before someone else does, but would you like to go on a date with me tomorrow night?" I ask, my voice softer than I usual.
I hear silence pierce my ears as Kylie looks at me smiling, thinking about it.
I look back to see Harry standing with the others waiting for her answer. Kylie looks back and looks down at her hands shyly.
"I would love to Niall.." She says.
I breathe a sigh of relief and nod grateful I beat Harry.
"So anyone hungry?" I ask, hoping it would break the silence.
I see the others nod and I get up with Kylie who playfully takes my hand.
She made me so happy. I couldn't imagine why I hadn't kept in contact with her all these years. Though it didn't matter. All that mattered was now.
We pack into the same black SUV that had taken us and head up the wet rainy road. The traffic was horrible because of everyone leaving the concert. Kylie leans her head against my shoulder and I smile down at her.
I ignore Harry's piercing green eyes staring at me from the back seat. Louis had purposely sat next to me and Kylie to prevent any more conflict between us. I think they were getting pretty tired of our bickering over the same girl.
"So Niall I know you like food but if you had to pick what would be your favorite?" She ask, her soft sweet voice comes to my ears and I smile.
"It'd have to be at Nandos. It's a cool restaurant. Best food I have ever had there." I say.
She laughs smiling up at me.
"It's not funny." I say, slightly offended.
"Don't worry Niall I think she's just thinking that it was a good answer." Louis says smirking.
"Yeah." She says, agreeing with Louis.
"What about you Kylie? We don't know much about you?" Liam asks.
Kylie smiles and keeps looking out the rainy window of the passing dark night.
"Well, me and Niall grew up together. Super close. I love drawing and painting. Just a real passion of mine. Since we're going to eat. My favorite food has to be eggplant with spaghetti. So good. Though most people don't know this I'm vegetarian. I'm sorry if it offends you guys, but that's just me." I say, smiling.
"Doesn't bug me at all." Harry says, his voice low and rough.
"That's all good." Liam says.
She smiles.
"You know vegetarians are supposed to live slightly longer than the average person so total props to them." Louis says.
After a few more minutes of talking we arrive at an Irish pub.
My mates jump out quickly and I go out waiting for Kylie as she carefully gets out. Her bright smile brining my nerves back again.
"This looks good." She says, as we walk side by side into the restaurant.
I see Harry walking beside us also, but I ignore him.
"Over here!" Louis says, sitting at a table in the corner.
We crowd around the table laughing and talking. I look at Kylie who is smiling as she sips a coca cola. Her warm hand is holding mine beneath the table.
It was the only sign that I was still holding onto her heart. Though Harry was trying just as hard by talking to her continuously from across the table.
"What's your opinion on bananas?" Harry asks.
Kylie laughs almost spitting out her soda.
"I like them why?" She asks.
He smiles.
"Just because I really like bananas." He says, smiling so his dimples showed.
"What are all your tattoos for?" She asks looking at his wrist that had the dark anchor on it.
"Oh these. Most of them from places I've traveled, or for my own personal wish." He says, his green eyes meeting mine.
I stare back feeling the tension even though everyone was loud around us. The fact that this was a competition made it even more stressful for me.
"Hey Niall?" Kylie asks, waving her hand in front of my eyes.
"Uh yeah?" I ask.
She laughs a little her hand squeezing mine.
She places her mouth next to my ear.
"Why does it feel like you two are trying to compete for me?" She asks, whispering into my ear so no one but me can hear.
I look at her a little unsure of how to answer.
"It's because um... We made a bet. That isn't really relevant." I say.
She looks at me her eyes filled with happiness.
"Well so far you're winning in my book." She says, softly laughing.
I put my hand on her cheek lightly and lean in, but she puts her hand on my mouth and I smile.
"Not yet. If it's a fair competition then you have to wait." She says, smiling.
I nod and she lets her hand fall back onto her lap.
I just hoped that things worked out.
