EDELMIRA'S POV
"Edelmira Velez. Take a seat sweetheart." Caesar Flickerman says, gesturing to the empty chair in front of him. What else would I be doing? I smile and wave to the clapping crowd. I do take a seat and cross my legs.
"So." I brush back a piece of hair that has fallen from the braid bun.
"You're looking beautiful this evening." He comments. "Thank you." Out in public, the skirt seems a lot shorter to me. I know it still the same, and I know that it's not even that short, compared to some things I've seen worn in the Capitol. This slightly reassures me. "Tell me. What could someone like you have done to impress the game makers enough to give you a ten?" He asks, leaning in for the answer. What's that supposed to mean? I'm almost certain it has to go with my hight. I'm slightly offended by this, him acting like I'm dwarf, standing three feet tall. Well, I'm five foot three very much. Whatever. It doesn't matter. "I chucked knives at them from the tree tops," I say, smiling sweetly as I remember what Samana had said. "Charming." Caesar gives a hearty laugh at my answer. I see nothing funny. "That makes sense." He says. "With a touch of ready to slit your throat."
"I'm assuming you have a boyfriend back in District 11?" Caesar asks.
Why would you assume that? And how can you change the subject so quickly?
"Um no. I don't." I say, still smiling but glaring at Caesar in annoyance. "No?" Caesar gasps. Oh. My. Gosh. I want to just grab him by his blue haired head and throw him out. "How about that Hayden boy, Hm?" "What about him?"
Caesar wiggles his eyebrows. I continue to stare at him. Disgust. That's the one word I can think of. "Anything... Special between you two?" I rest my head in my hand as if deeply pondering this. "No. Nothing." I reply flatly. I think he can tell that I'm being honest. He moves on the next question and I go back to charming old me.
