"Where are we going?" I whined, as I stumbled down the stairs behind Xander. The torch he was holding barely provided enough light for us to see our own hands held at arms length, let alone what was waiting at the end of the long hall. He remained silent, motioning for me to follow him down a hallway.

I scanned the hallway as we walked through. The walls were lined with paintings of mythical creatures of all sizes and shapes. Suddenly, something caught my eye. I grabbed Xander's shirt and whispered for him to move the torch closer to the painting. There, resting on the chest of a stunning Pegasus, was a small charm similar to my own. The jewel on the charm was the same blue colour as the Pegasus but it was of the exact same design as the pendant around my neck that I clutched in my hand at that very moment.

I took the torch from Xander and checked every painting I walked past. Each creature had a necklace resting on it's chest. I kept walking until I reached a large room. Shelves and shelves of old dusty books stood around us and at the very center of the wall in front us were two paintings.

I gasped in shock as I recognized the two creatures in the paintings.

"This is the Archive. I discovered it when I was small, although I never shared the secret with anyone," Xander spoke, his voice laced with guilt.

I couldn't concentrate on a single word he spoke. I couldn't tear my eyes off the paintings.

A Silver Griffin and a Golden Phoenix.

For some reason I can't make the words bold!
