Vision returned to Kai's eyes at last. He opened them, and bright light seared. He had dreamed of a kiss to his forehead, a goodbye, and then the warmth was gone, and he was vaulted into a dark and cold abyss.

Kai sat up, rubbing his throbbing temples. His hands instinctively fell to his belt, searching for his portscreen. Of course, it wasn't there.

His memories were faint. Gun shots, screaming, pain beyond anything he had ever felt before.

His missing right leg proved that it wasn't just all a nightmare.

He recounted as much of his memories as he could. They'd been captured, they'd all been captured, but they had escaped. Something about lunar ships and being trapped in orbit.

The pod ship he had escaped in was small, round, and it had landed him perfectly with no damage. There had to be a communication system.

Kai heard a harsh voice outside, another answered back. His ears rang with the sound. The pod ship door was ripped back, and a man clad with the combat uniform of the Commonwealth emerged.

"Sir!" He examined Kai, and the color drained from his face when his eyes found the missing leg. "Commander! I found the Emperor! Come quick!" he yelled over his shoulder, and another man in the same uniform appeared at the soldier's shoulder.

"Oh my stars," he muttered, looking terrified, then he hollered behind him, "we need a med droid here, and quick!"

Not two seconds pass when a med droid arrived, its eyes glowing cold yellow and a blood red cross standing out on it's white chest.

It surveyed Kai, no doubt scanning him, and then beeped. It's chest opened, revealing a third arm with a syringe. It rolled toward Kai, who scrambled away from the sharp point.

"Wh-what is that?" he stammered, pointing toward the syringe.

The android answered in a hollow voice, "it is just a small anesthetic, your Highness. It will take away the pain." Behind it, the commander said something into a radio, something like, "he seems delusional."

Kai didn't want the anesthetic. He kicked at the androids bulbous head, and it fell backwards with a clang. He jumped towards what he assumed was the pod ships controls, typed something quickly, and sent two comms. The first target, the lunar ships directly above. They would all receive it, but only one would be able to understand it, Cinder. The second comm was to the Commonwealth, directly to Nainsi, his personal android. Someone had to help Cinder.

The android righted itself, and stabbed Kai with the aesthetic. The world went fuzzy, and he lost consciousness.
