Chapter 6

The Lynchs made it to Cindy and Brad's house. Seeing the place reminded them of everything that happened before.

"Nothing much changed here eh," Riker says, looking around.

"Yeah. Well, it's just the two of us here anyway." Brad says.

"Follow me, I'll bring you to your rooms." Cindy tells them.

Riker, Rocky and Rydel nod, and follow her. Then they take the stairs and passed a few more rooms.

"This room is big enough for the three of you." Cindy says. "I'll let you unpack." She adds, leaving the room.

So, they unpack. Riker takes the single bed, and Rocky and Rydel on the double deck. Riker opened the drawer next to his bed to put some things, when he found an envelope.

"What's this..." He mutters.

As he opens it, a photo falls. He took a look, and it was a picture of Ross. Then, he took the papers inside then read them.

"Ten year old boy dead in a car accident..." He trails off.

It was a page from a newspaper with the article about a car accident. It described the boy by his age and physical appearance.

"What's that?" Rydel says as she walks towards me.

"It can't be..." Riker says as water builds up in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" Rocky joins them.

"Ross is... he was long dead."

Ross and Ella went to the venue of meeting. They were currently looking for a group of musicians to perform with Ross in his concert, and Ross wanted to be the judge in the audition himself.

"So, how's everything going?" Ross asks his real manager; Bea.

"We've set up a few meetings for the auditions. It'll start tomorrow." She replies.

"Awesome. Can't wait." Ross says, emotionless.

"Well, I guess you have to start your rehearsals now." Ella tells him.

"Okay. Wait, do you have to be here?" He asks with a teasing tone.

"Yes. Mom told me to watch over you, and make sure that you take your medicine for your heart," Ella says, poking Ross' chest.

"I'm seventeen. I think I can handle taking a medicine on my own." He raises his eyebrow.

"Seventeen, but not legal. And I, am eighteen. Which gives me the right to watch over you." Ella says boastfully.

"You're just three months older. No fair." Ross crosses his arms.

"Still, older. Now, get started." Ella says, in a bossy tone.

"Yes mother." Ross says as he walks away.

Ella smirks as she takes her seat. They were in the practice room already. She placed the instruments Ross would be using. All they had left to do is to wait for Ross' sing and dance teacher.

"Hello," A tall blonde girl enters the room.

"Oh, hi. I'm Ella." She offers her hand.

"Well hello there. You can call me Mandy, and I'll be Ross' sing and dance instructor." She says, revealing a big smile.

"He'll be ready in a bit," Ella says.

After a few seconds, Ross arrives.

"Finally. I've heard a lot about you mister internet sensation. Nice to meet you." Mandy gives Ross a hug.

"The pleasure is mine." Ross says.

"So, let's start?" Mandy says. "First, I want to see you perform. Just be yourself. No pressure." She adds.

Ross agrees, then walks to the platform. He takes his guitar and sits on the stall. He checks the mic, then begins.

"I wish that I could wake up with amnesia, and forget about those stupid little things, like the way it felt to fall asleep next to you, and the memories I never can escape, if I woke up with you right beside me, like all of this was just some twisted dream, I'd hold you closer that I ever did before, and you'll never slip away, and you'd never hear me say..."

"Good. Now, why did you choose that song?" Mandy asks.

"I don't know. Maybe I want to forget something from the past, that I know I can't..." Ross trails off.

Ella sighs, probably guessing what Ross is thinking of. His old family. Even if he tried all his best to change and start over, it's impossible to forget them.

"Okay, so that's what you want to perform infront of thousands of people? Because if you're gonna say yes, I'm telling you the audience wouldn't have fun." Mandy raises her eyebrows.

"Meaning?" Ross asks, confused.

"What I'm trying to say is, we must put more impact and energy into your performance. Huge dance numbers while singing, smoke effe—"

"He can't, he has a heart problem. We can't risk his health, can we?" Ella chimes in.

Ross glares at Ella, then looks back at Mandy.

"So, no dance numbers or loud singing? Then I think I'm not needed here." Mandy says casually.

"No, that's not what Ella meant. I think your idea was great, we're going through with it," Ross convinces Mandy.

"Okay then. Tell me about the concept, and everything will be ready tomorrow. Excuse me for a second." Mandy says, walking out of the room.

"Mister Ross Ratliff? You know you're not allowed to—" Ella was cut off.

"Look, we have to take chances. Nobody would enjoy a blonde guy seated on a chair with a guitar, and not moving a bit. If we want my career to go on, I have to try new things." Ross says.

"I'm only concerned about your health Ross." Ella says, walking towards him.

"I'll be fine. I've been through high school and showbiz but I haven't had a heart attack. It's been years, I feel okay now. Trust me." Ross tries to pursuade Ella.

Ella takes a deep breath. "Fine. Just don't forget to take your medicine." She says.

"Thanks," Ross pulls Ella into a hug.

Dug dug... dug dug... Ella's heart beated.

Why is she feeling this way? She's had like thousands of hugs with Ross, but now it feels different. She tightened the hug, and felt like never letting go.

"I'll be back. I'll talk to Mandy for a moment," Ross says, letting go.

"O-oh, sure." Ella quickly replies.

With that, Ella shook her head and paced back and forth. She took in deep breaths, and bit her lower lip.

"No. I don't like Ross. He's my freakin' brother!" She mutters, trying to convince herself.
