Here I am again. The plain white walls and ceilings are all I can see. And the only thing I can hear is the sound of my chest, the sound of my heart aside from the sobs of other people around me. Ross thought.
Everyone was nervously waiting outside Riker's room I'm the hospital. It was silent. There wasn't much to talk about since everyone was still shocked.
"It's all my fault." Ross breaks the silence. "I-I'm so sorry." He keeps himself from shedding a tear.
"We know it was never your intention. You too are just a victim." Rocky tries to make him feel better.
Ross shakes his head. "That should've been me. I don't even get why he still helped me!" He pulls his hair.
"Anyone in his place would've done the same. Ross, everyone matters here. Lets's just hope that he's fine." Rydel says, wiping tears off her cheeks.
Before anyone else could talk, Stormie and Mark came running from the other end of the hall. They both had a worried look on their faces.
"W-where's Riker? Please, t-tell me he's fine," Stormie pleads.
"Mom, dad!" Rydel runs to her parents and gives them an embrace as she realizes their presence. "W-we still don't know, but hopefully he's fine." She adds.
"What happened? How did this happen?" Mark asks with a worried tone.
There were a few seconds of silence. Then, Ella did the talking.
"I-it was all an accident. Someone tried to kidnap Ross, and Riker was there to help." She says.
Stormie swallows. "O-oh, is that so? Well, are you alright?" She asks Ross.
"Y-yes. And I'm sorry for the trouble I brought." Ross tells his mom.
Stormie's eyes suddenly became watery. Since she knows in herself that Ross is her son, she's worried for both of them.
Stormie gently pulled Ross into a tight hug, because it felt right. Stormie knew that Ross needs a shoulder to cry on, and as his mom, she's always ready to help. She just can't wait for the day that they could finally prove that Ross is her missing son.
"I-i'm sorry..." Ross whispers as tears race down his face.
"It's not your fault honey," Stormie comforts him.
As if on cue, Ryland suddenly ran towards them. He had a shock expression on his face.
"Riker got stabbed?!" He says in surprise.
"Yes. But the doctors are taking care of it," Mark tries to say calmly.
Ryland stress fully runs his hands through his brown hair, and wiping his face with his hands too.
A few moments later, Rocky turns to ask Ryland. "How'd you know something happened to Riker? We haven't informed you yet," His eyebrows furrowed.
Ryland takes a deep breath. "That doesn't matter." He pulls out his phone, obviously trying to avoid the subject.
"Is everything alright Ryland?" Rydel asks.
"Yeah." He nods. "I'll be back later," He announces, walking to the elevator.
Just as Ryland left, Alexa came. "Can I see Riker?" She says as she walks towards them.
They shake their heads. Alexa sighs in disappointment. "Ross, can we talk?" She says.
Ross nods, and follows Alexa's lead. They make it to the other end of the hall.
"How could you do this Ross?" Alexa's voice was shaking.
"What?" Ross' eyebrows furrowed.
She takes a deep breath. "You put Riker in danger, Ross."
"And you actually think that I did it on purpose? I never wanted this to happen." Ross protests.
"But you're happy this happened right? I don't even know you anymore." Alexa's eyes become watery.
Ross runs his hands through his tangled hair. "Blame me all you want, I would accept that. But I think you're crossing the line there." Ross' teeth we're gritted. "I may hate him, but I would never want him to get in trouble. Because if I could turn back time, I would take Riker's place instead. Damn it Alexa, do you actually think I'm that horrible to plan all this and celebrate that he's hospitalized? No. I am dying inside."
Alexa turns her head towards the floor. Then, tears drop off her eyes. "I-I'm sorry. I just thought that blaming someone would make me feel better."
"Why are you even so affected?"
Alexa wipes off her tears. Then, she looked straight into Ross' eyes. "When Riker found out that I was just playing him, I felt so guilty. I thought that I would feel so relieved, but I didn't. When I got home, all our memories together flashed back. And that's when I realized that... I, I still love him. And that I shouldn't have made anger and hatred win over me. And now, who knows if Riker would wake up. And I'm this close to losing him." Tears flowed down like a river on Alexa's cheeks.
Ross stood there, trying to absorb everything.
"Ross," Alexa calls him.
Ross' head quickly turns to Alexa.
"Here's my advice for you. I know that I'm the one who planted all those revenge things in your head, that's why I'm here to stop you before it's too late. Don't make it reach the point where you'll regret it Ross. Please learn from my experience."
Ross doesn't respond. He had a lot of things going on in his head. But he knows that Alexa's right. Maybe it is time to forgive and forget. Because if he continues this, everyone in the end is a loser.
"Guys! Riker's awake!" Ross' thoughts were cut when Rydel approached them.
They ran into the room. They open the door, revealing a pale and tired-looking Riker, who was perfectly layed down on the hospital bed.
"Riker, thank god you're okay," Ross says as he sees his brother.
Stormie and Mark came into the room, saying that they've talked to the doctors. "And they said that he's fine, but will need a one week rest." She says.
They nod, and Ross took the opportunity to talk to Riker. "How are you feeling?" He asks as he makes it to his side.
"Feeling alive." He smiles.
"You're not mad at me for almost killing you?" Ross says witha surprised expression.
"First, it wasn't you who stabbed me. Second, there's no reason to be mad. It was my decision to help you out, and I don't regret it."
Ross fought the urge to release a tear. He was too happy right now. All this time, he's been a two-faced person ti these people, while they are willing to sacrifice for Ross' own good. And this is when it hit him.
Time to change Ross. Time to throw all this anger away.
