28 | A Night to Remember

After two hours, they finally made it to their destination. They went straight to the hotel of the resort, to begin unpacking.

"The girls, Ella, Alexa, Rydel, Cherry and Stormie will be staying at room 202." Mark instructs them, "And we'll be staying at 203." He adds, referring to the guys and him.

Everyone seems to agree, and makes their way to the rooms. They were planning to stay at this resort over night, or even longer.

Just as the guys entered their room, Ellington called their attention.

"Yow guys, I have a plan." He says, asking them to come nearer to him.

Rocky replies, "Is this about you asking Rydel?" He raises an eyebrow. Ellington soon nods. "Ugh. Can we like, eat first?" Rocky adds, a bit irritated.

"It's gonna be real quick." Ellington assures them. "I have this idea of the venue set up in my head, and all we need is materials. Do you think we can buy some around here?"

Ross quickly agrees. "Yeah. I've been here before, and I did see a shop around. I'll bring you guys there,"

Ellington nods. "Hmm... what about the food?" He asks.

"I think Rocky and I can handle it," Riker says.

"Great. All we need to do is to get moving, and make sure Rydel doesn't notice us." Ellington says, a bit nervous.

"But first," Mark chimes in, "Let's go swimming. There's plenty of time for that."

Ellington shrugs, and then they change into their swimming clothes. As soon as they were done, they went to the girl's room.

"Girls? Who's ready to get wet!" Rocky says from the other side of the door.

There was no response.

Ross chuckles. "Oh, girls. It'll take them hours just to get in their swimsuit and stuff, knowing that they're gonna get wet soon anyway."

As soon as he finished talking, the door quickly opened, revealing Ella. "I heard that." She raises an eyebrow. Then, the rest of the girls came out.

They made their way to the beach, and prepared a little picnic on the sand, near the water. After putting sunblock, they ran into the water, with their parents left behind at the picnic area.

They joked around like little kids, and even had some swimming races. Riker even pretended to drown, just to scare the people around him. After a few minutes, Ellington started calling the guys again.

"Okay, we're done with swimming, now let's get ready, yes?" Ellington whispers.

"Fine." Rocky rolls his eyes. "But what if Rydel gets curious why we left?" He adds.

Riker puts his hand on his chin, when a thought entered his mind. "Since Alexa and Ella will be left behind with Rydel, let's just tell them to bring Rydel to some girly stuff while we're gone. If she isn't here, she wouldn't look for us, and we can easily prepare."

"Excellent," Ellington smiles.

As soon as they informed Ella and Alexa, they we're ready to go. Ross and Ellington went to the store to get some materials, while Riker and Rocky bought some food.

"Ooh, the salon!" Rydel exclaims as they make it to the mall near the resort.

"Yep. What kind of hairstyle do you want?" Ella asks.

"Hmm, how about I add some pink highlights? I wanna look like a rock star," Rydel chuckles.

"I think it will suit you well! Let's go in,"Alexa says as they enter the salon.

While Rydel talked to the person in charge, Ella and Alexa tried to keep their voice down while talking.

"What time did Ellington tell us to go back to the resort?" Ella whispers to Alexa.

"I have no idea." She sighs. "They'll probably call, anyway."

As if on cue, Rydel asked them to join her. So, the girls had their make overs.

"Next stop, dress shopping!" Rydel says excitedly.

After an hour or more, the guys finally got back with the materials and food in their hands.

"What did you get?" Rocky asks Ross and Ellington.

"Well, we got some cardboard and stuff since we're gonna be writing something, some fancy romantic lights, romantic music, and my attire." Ell replies.

"We took mostly pink ones since it's Rydel's favorite color. Even Ellington's attire is pink," Ross ends up laughing.

Riker chuckles. "Okay. Well, we got seafood, wine, some meat as well, and bread."

"Awesome. Now, we only got a few hours to prepare. We can ask mom and Stormie to cook, then we'll set up the venue." Ellington instructs them.

Everyone agrees, and starts moving. They just followed Ellington's lead, since he said he got the design in his head. They started hanging those bright christmas-like lights on tree branches, and started setting up the table. The floor was just fine sand, which made it look very unique.

Ellington made last minute posters about Rydel on the cardboards, some saying romantic things.

They set up candles on the table, since it was getting dark. There were also photos of Rydel and Ellington hanging from the wire of the lights, and reflecting to it.

After some time, Cheryl and Stormie brought out the newly cooked seafood, meat and fresh wine.

"Wow," The guys say in relief, while looking at their finished work.

"I hope Rydel likes it though," Ell thinks out loud.

"Of course, you've put so much effort on this." Ross says.

Then, Riker calls Alexa and tells her that everything's ready, and it's time to bring Rydel back to the resort. The girls we're already on their way back.

"I am so nervous," Ell says, holding his chest.

After a few minutes, Rydel, Ella and Alexa arrives. As Rydel laid eyes on Ellington and the whole place, she already started tearing up.

"W-what is this?" She asks as she walks towards Ellington.

Ellington takes a deep breath. "Just lend your ears," He smiles.

Rydel shrugs, still confused.

"Remember when we first met? We were at a store, and we bumped into each other. I dropped my drumsticks, and you asked me if I played drums. And I said yes," Ellington pauses, holding up the exact drumsticks in his hands.

"You pursuaded me to join you guys and jam, which I didn't agree to at first. But, you showed me such a personality, that you convinced not only me, but my heart." He smiles, and takes a few steps towards Rydel.

"I played music with you guys, which felt so amazing. And remember when I always messed up while playing drums? Well, that was because I kept on looking at you. I got distracted, by an angel."

By that time, tears rolled down Rydel's pinkish cheeks. Ellington gently dried it with his hands.

"We hung out, and that's when I started realizing how special you are to me. Rydel, you changed me. You gave me life," He smiles, and takes Rydel's hands.

"Rydel, from day one, I knew you were a princess. But tonight, would you like to be my queen? Will you be my girlfriend?"

And then, complete silence took over.
