There were a few seconds of silence. Only the romantic music that surrounded them was heard.
Dig dig... dig dig...
Ellington's heart almost jumped out of it's place. He was very nervous. Will Rydel say yes? What if she says no?
"I..." Rydel trails off. She glanced around, seeing all the others nervously watching them. She tried to keep her giggle to herself. Their faces were priceless.
"Of course." Rydel chirped.
As if on cue, everyone celebrated and started jumping around. Rydel and Ellington had their moment. Ellington carried Rydel, causing her feet to get off the ground, and spinned her around. It was like a romantic movie, but more realistic.
"Congratulations!" Rocky shouted from his seat.
"Thanks." Ellington quickly replies. "Now, excuse us please," He says, dragging Rydel away from the crowd.
The rest continued the small party. The background was perfect, for it was a sunset. Ella thought to enjoy it, and sat near the shore to watch the sunset.
Soon, someone came from behind her and sat by her side. She knew it was him.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Ross says as he sits down.
"Absolutely." Ella smiles.
"Today was actually one of the most exciting days of my life. I spent it with all of you guys, which was really new to me." Ross stared into the sky, while taking a deep breath. "Curiosity is killing me. What might happen after this? After the concert? I'm afraid that I'll lose them." His eyes reflected his sadness.
"You keep on saying that," Ella chuckles. "Just have faith. It's gonna be fine." She gives Ross an ensuring look.
Ross nods. "You know what? Let's go surfing. I bet it's the best way to keep all these thoughts off my mind." He shrugs.
Ella's eyes widen. "Surf? That's actually a great idea. We haven't surfed for a long time. I'm excited." She chirps. "Oh, let me tell the others-"
"Uh, don't." Ross cuts Ella's sentence. "I, I kinda wanted it to be just you and me. Is it f-fine?" Ross tries to hide his burning cheeks.
"Oh," Ella pauses. "And why is that?" She raises an eyebrow.
Ross shrugs. "That doesn't matter." He quickly gets up and offers Ella his hand. Once Ella took his hand, Ross pulled her up from her sitting position. "Just remember, we'll meet in the morning. Be ready, we can't miss any big waves." Ross winks.
Ella smiles. "Yeah, sure."
Then, they walked towards the rest of the Lynchs. After a few hours, all of them decided to go back to their hotels to get some sleep.
°°°
Morning came, and Ella was already getting ready to surf. She changed into some fresh clothes with swimming clothes beneath it. She tied her hair, to keep it from falling on her face. As she was about to leave the room, Alexa called her.
"Where are you going this early?" Alexa says while stretching. She sat up from her sleeping position.
Ella was startled by her voice, and turned around. "Well, uh... I-I'm just gonna take a walk." She quickly says.
"Oh, can I come?" Alexa says excitedly.
Ella rolls her eyes. "Just follow, I'll go ahead." She says, closing the door behind her.
Ella cheerfully made her way to the shore, where they would meet. It was nothing new, but Ella thought that it was special. One special moment, just her and Ross.
"Ugh!" Ella shakes the thought off her head. "Control your feelings Ella, it's just a friendly surf." She whispered to herself. She took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself.
A few minutes later, Ross arrives. He had a big smile plastered on his face, almost reaching his ears. He had two surfboards in his arms.
"You're late," Ella teases.
Ross rolls his eyes. "Yeah sorry. By the way, I got us surfboards," He says, as if it wasn't already obvious.
"I can see that." Ella smiles, and takes one of the boards. "I hope I still know how to surf, it's been so long." She says.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." Ross wiggles his eyebrows.
Ella sighs. "Why don't we get in the water?"
Ross agrees, and they make their way into the water. They swam a bit further, and waited for a wave.
Not so long, they spot a wave approaching them. Ross and Ella gave each other an excited look, and started paddling towards it. Then, they surfed.
Ross and Ella had a fun time, and to their surprise; they we're still good surfers. They did it a couple of times, until a huge wave caught their attention.
"Ella, I think that wave's too big. Let's get out-" Ross' sentence was cut.
"C'mon, it's gonna be fun. We can do it," Ella says persuasively.
Ross shrugs, and agrees with Ella. They surfed, and Ross did fine. But, the wave came too strong, which caused Ella to disappear from Ross' sight.
Ross scanned the place, and slowly became worried. "Ella! Where are you?!" He called out her name a few more times, but there was no response.
"Oh no," Ross' heartbeat started beating faster. He was scared of what might've happened to Ella. So, he dove into the water and searched for her. He kept on going back up the surface for air. Ross didn't stop swimming and looking for Ella. He didn't lose hope.
"Ella!!" Ross screamed with all the strength left within him. As if on cue, his eyes land on Ella from a distance, unconscious.
Ross quickly swims towards her. Once he had her in his arms, he brought her back to shore. Ross layed her down on the sand, and nervously tried to wake her up. Luckily, there were people around, and helped Ella out. After a few seconds, Ella was conscious again.
She spit out water, and gasped for air. It looked like she just woke up from a nightmare. Ross quickly wrapped his arms around her, tightly.
"Thank God you're okay..." Ross whispers into Ella's ears.
Ella couldn't help but sob. "I feel so scared," She tightens the hug.
"I'm here, Ella. I'll never let anything bad happen to you, ever again." Ross caresses her face. "I don't know what I'd do without you..." He trails off. "Don't ever do that again." Ross says nervously.
Ella nods, and keeps herself in Ross' arms. Even if she felt scared and in danger, she felt safe and protected with Ross by her side. Just like a super hero.
