Betrayal.

That was all Rain could feel at the moment.

Why? How? Nobody would be able to tell, especially not him.

All he knew that he found home. He found home, but not where it should be. He found a few heartbeats of solace, but not in the right place. He found himself and his past, but not in his former Clanmates' warmth.

He found everything, but it was all in the enemy's dark blue eyes. It was all locked away there. Would it be treachery if he tried to speak to Blizzard? After all, she literally just declared war on PineClan. But she was still a part of him in a way that he would've never imagined.

The leader of the Nightbringers, the enemy is my past.

But before he could elaborate on his thoughts further, Smoke nudged him with her shoulder. "Come on," she urged, standing up and shaking her pelt. "We have to get out of here before they start leaving or else they'll find us!"

Rain remained still, glued to the spot he was sitting on. His mind was screaming at him; he knew he had to go, but something wasn't letting him. Something made him stay right where he was; he didn't want to leave and risk never seeing Blizzard again. He wanted to rush down there so badly and talk to Blizzard, to finally go back to PineClan. Maybe if-

The orange tom's train of thought was cut off sharply by Smoke, who moved in front of her to block his view of the hollow.

"Rain, come on!" She hissed, her face only a couple of whiskers away from Rain's. Her sharp voice, and, of course, her closeness, brought the tom back into reality, but he was only able to stare at her blankly. "If we don't go now, we are gonna get caught. You have to get up so we could leave!"

Rain stood his ground, looking Smoke in the eye. "Would getting caught be such a bad thing?" He reasoned, tilting his head to the side. "After all, PineClan is my Clan! Why would they try to chase me away?"

The blue-gray she-cat scoffed. "But you're not-" she cut herself off, not continuing the sentence. "Okay, I'm not about to have this conversation again right now; think what you want. But I'm not going to get caught because of you!"

"All am I saying is that maybe I should go over to Brookstar and tell her that I'm back," Rain argued, not even moving a whisker. "She's going to need all of her warriors nowadays!"

"We're on the Nightbringers' territory, flea-brain!"

Adrenaline rushed through Rain's veins at the thought. The Nightbringers were about to leave the hollow at any moment now, and if they did, they would find them here. What would they do to us? Rain found himself thinking. Would they harm us...or...

"Good, I wouldn't mind saying hello to Blizzard anyway." The orange tom grimaced, curling his claws into the ground. He wanted to have a word with her so badly...

The second the words left his mouth, Smoke stepped back, horrified. Her blue eyes widened with pain; at least that's what Rain saw for a fleeting moment before her gaze hardened. But, like, it really hardened. It was like she built up a stone wall around herself in the matter of heartbeats; and her eyes were reflecting nothing but that wall. She eyed him up and down with a frown, and then turned her back on him and began leaving.
