Two moons ago, Daystream had moved into the nursery and had Coldkit, Frostkit, and Bristlekit.

I had been told that Coldkit was a white tom with icy blue eyes. Frostkit was a white tabby she-kit with silver paws and ears and green eyes.
And Bristlekit was a dark brown tabby tom with green eyes dark grey stripes, and a creamy muzzle and paws.

At first I thought they where adorable, until they grew bigger and opened their eyes.

Coldkit was as cold as his name and pelt. He always teased me, but thankfully my older siblings, mostly Flamekit and Owlkit, would hiss at him.

Frostkit is actually my best friend, she hated her brother.

Bristlekit was the happiest, and full of energy.
He didn't care, or hadn't noticed, my blindness. Sometimes he would point at something, and I wouldn't know what he was meowing about.
He probably just didn't know, or he always forgot.

It had been 1 moon since Quietfeather's kits apprentice ceremony, and one moon until my siblings and I would become apprentices.

I could barely keep my paws still.
I had so many questions.
What would it be like be an apprentice? What would the territory be like? Who will my mentor be?

I shook my head and stayed hidden in my spot.

They where playing that Dawncloud was a badger, and she was coming into camp to eat all the kits'.

I hoped I was in a good place.

Suddenly I smelled my mother's scent. I backed up and stiffled a laugh.

"Hmm. I wonder where the kits are" Dawncloud meowed sarcastically in a gruff voice.

I heard Leopardkit giggle and Flamekit shushed her.

Suddenly there was a loud squeal as Dawncloud softly tackled Leopardkit and Flamekit.

"You had to laugh Leopardkit" Flamekit hissed, though he still had amusement in his meow.

She took no thought of it, and kept on laughing.

Suddenly I heard Owlkit screech and land on Dawncloud.

I heard her paws bat him softly away in surprise.

Now it was my turn.

I raced to my mother, the voice's pelt guiding me, and jumped on Dawncloud's belly.

Dawncloud hissed in surprise and batted me off.

I squealed in delight at nocking my mother over and raced away as Dawncloud chased me.

I felt happy that I was finally a lot bigger than when I was younger.

I felt more like an apprentice.

Suddenly Dawncloud tackled me and I squealed.

I fell to the ground breathing heavily.

I felt my mother's gaze, worry in her stare.

Then my breathing went back to normal, and I sat up.

Dawncloud sighed in relief and the kits raced over and tackled her.

----------

A half moon had passed.

I just stood in front of the nursery and ate a mouse.

It tasted delicious as I bones crunched under my tiny sharp teeth.

I soon finished and licked my lips. Then I gave my face a thorough wash.

Suddenly I heard a twig snap behind me, as if a cat was sneaking up behind.

I sniffed the air.

Coldkit

I growled under my breath and waited.

Suddenly he leaped and I pushed him away with my front paws.

I hissed, I had enough of his teasing.

I was now bigger than him, but still smaller than my siblings. I hated how I was so small, but at least I wasn't too small to tackle Coldkit and a full grown she-cat, my mother, to be exact.

I heard a thump, and padded over to him, stared into his eyes and hissed.
Sometimes I could tell where everything was.

I kicked dust in his face, he sneezed, then I trotted away.

I was almost an apprentice, I not going to be tormented by the little fox-hearted-mouse-brain again.

I lifted my chin up,
I'm going to be the best warrior the clans have ever seen!
