I woke up to the feeling of a paw prodding into my side.

Jolting up, I surprised the cat.

"Great Starclan! You made me jump out of my fur!" It was a tom.

I scented the air.

It was Jaypaw.

I slowly sat up and shook the moss out of my fur.

"What made you want to wake me up at a time like this?" I hissed in annoyance, regretting it instantly.

For Jaypaw backed up in surprise, then hissed back, "It's nearly sun-high, and Sparrow told me to come and wake you up for battle-training. For Starclans' sake, you're acting like you've got a thorn in your pelt!" then he roughly padded out mumbling to himself about she-cats.

I ignored him and walked out of the den, shaking bits of moss off and gave my pelt a quick wash.

I was kind of sorry I had snapped at the tom, but honestly, that cat seemed to be more sensitive than a newborn kit.

At least that's what I thought. He was actually very brave in most occasions, but when it came to other...she-cats....well let's just say that's a different story.

I shook my head and trotted over to Sparrow, who was waiting at the entrance of the camp.

"You ready for some battle training?" He purred.

I nodded in excitement.

You'll do great, I'll help you.
The voice whispered, I still didn't know where it came from.

We padded out of camp and into the sandy clearing.

--------

(I don't really remember all of the battle moves, so I'll just kind of make some up)

I waited until the right moment to charge.
We where trying a move called the Charging Thunder(mu=made up).

I had already learned four others moves.

Suddenly I heard Sparrow leap at me.

Now! I charged at him and softly pounded into his exposed belly.

He dropped to the ground and I pinned him down, and, for extras, sliced at his belly with sheathed claws.

He suddenly stood up, nocking me off, but I quickly jumped away before I landed in the hard sand.

"Nice job Echopaw! You really do catch on quick!" He purred."I wonder what it would be like in a real battle with you."

Pride swelled inside of me.
I really didn't think I would be that good, with my blindness and all.

"Alright, let's go get some hunting done, then we'll go back to camp." He meowed, interrupting my happy thoughts, then he trotted off.
-------

We came back to camp, jaws full of prey.

I suddenly stopped short, Sparrow had stopped too.

Do I smell...blood?
