MORE BLOODY SECRETS?

Jasper was looking from Maria to Lizzie. He had to choose between capturing his long time enemy and letting his daughter die or let his daughter survive and let his long time enemy escape. But before any of us could say anything else, Maria was free and someone else was holding Lizzie. It was Caleb. His eyes were gleaming red and he was looking greedily at Lizzie. Okay, she might have been immortal but it seemed she still had human blood. “Calm yourself, Caleb,” Maria said sweetly. “You can drink that lovely blood later.” Caleb grinned. “At your service.” Maria crossed her arms. “Look,” she said. “Major Whitlock...” Jasper gave a hoarse snarl at his old name. Maria chuckled. “Jasper then. Look, I can offer you so much more than them. So much more than I could all those years ago.” You could easily see how tempted Jasper was to hear more. Maria continued. “I can offer you more than those freaks. More than the fortune-telling pixie. Come back my dear Jasper.” Jasper bit his lip. “Jasper,” Carlisle warned. “She’s tempting you. It’ll be no different from last time.” “Silence!” Maria screamed, glaring at Carlisle. I’d been so wrapped up in Maria’s talk, my shield had dropped. Carlisle jumped out of the way...the pain hitting Alice again. Her scream was worse than last time. It was long, drawn out and it made my dead heart shake. “Alice!” I cried, skidding to her side. Jasper was now completely out of his trance. But Maria was still grinning at us. I forced my shield out and the hit slammed into it. I felt its force and struggled to keep it upright. “Hang in there, Bella!” Emmet growled and he and Jasper launched and Maria. She dodged but Edward knew how she was going to fight and leaped at her. She was tackled to the ground. However, I heard a sickening snap and gasped. “Edward!” I cried. Maria disappeared. “She’s not coming back,” Edward said, rubbing his neck. “She just cracked my shoulder. I’m fine.” Jasper was whispering something in Alice’s ear. “That...does...not...make...any...sense,” she said, choking over her words. “How...can...Lizzie...still...be...alive?” Jasper shook his head. “Get some rest. I’ll tell you later.” He kissed her and then turned away. As soon as Carlisle had taken her out of the room, Jasper kicked the small wooden table beside him, causing it to crack and shatter. “Wow...Jesus Jazz, calm down,” Lizzie said, wiping a small tear of blood off her neck. “She’s gonna be fine. You wrote to me saying Alice is gone through thick and thin. I’d call this thin if you ask me. At ” Jasper nodded. “You’re right,” he said. “You always are anyway.” Lizzie looked about nine years old. Renesmee stepped forward. “Hi,” she said. Lizzie grinned. “Finally!” she said. “Another girl to hang out with!” Renesmee grinned back. “Do you like Harry Potter?” she asked. Lizzie gaped. “Are you kidding? Total fan in the house!” Jasper patted her on the back. “Ness, she was the first person to get a copy of the Philosopher’s Stone. She broke into the shop and stole it then snuck into J.K. Rowling’s house and ordered her to sign it!” Renesmee stared. “Awesome!” she crowed and the two rushed upstairs, discussing the strangest series of all times. I sighed. “At least I can trust Lizzie to distract Renesmee.” Jasper sat on the couch. “More explanations?” Emmet grumbled. Esme shot a warning look at him. “To defeat Maria, we all need to understand everything.” “I’m not explaining without Alice,” Jasper mumbled. “She’s conscious,” Carlisle said. “You can see her.” I could see Jasper approaching Alice. She avoided his gaze. “It’s my fault,” Jasper whispered to Carlisle. “I should be tossed up and hung.”

“It wouldn’t work anyway, you don’t need to breathe.”

“Then someone should rip me apart and burn me.” Jasper’s topaz eyes were set on Alice, who was slowly getting up. “Never, ever, will you have to go through what happened today,” Jasper whispered. “I’ll go. I won’t come back.” “Don’t you dare Jasper Cullen,” Alice warned. “I’ll go trotting up to Maria and ask for it.” Her liquid eyes were gleaming. “You wouldn’t. The pain is too bad.” “I would if you left.” “I’ll have someone spy on you. I’d get someone to keep you in their sight.” “I’ll escape.” “You couldn’t.” “I could. I would. I will never leave you, and I will never let you leave me.” Jasper looked into her face. “Don’t try to change my mood Jasper. It will not change,” Alice said carefully. “I have my mind set on staying with you. You will not leave. I will only concentrate my visions on you and I will pretty soon find out where you are. I have a very fast Porsche. And if you smash it up, I’ll use Edward’s Volvo. I’ll drive every single car in the state to find you.” Jasper wove his fingers into her spiky brown hair. “You should hate the hell out of me. You should want to kill me, torture me, and make regret the day I was born.” he whispered. “What if I don’t?” “You should. You should be feeling the utmost hate and fury towards me.” “I don’t. I won’t ever. Not in a million billion centuries. I love you. And I always will.” Something about the calmness and the meaning in Alice’s words seemed to trigger Jasper. He slowly walked half a step closer to her. Alice did the same. “What if I said I hated you?” Jasper said in a low voice. “I wouldn’t believe it.” Alice said, her voice dancing around in the air. “What if I told you its true?” “I’d ask you to prove it.”

“Can’t you see what I’ve done to you Alice?” Jasper yelled suddenly.

“Jasper, can’t you see that I don’t care?”

“You should. I’ve said this before. It’s my fault.”

“Please Jasper...stop.”

“I can’t. Look, I think it’s...I think it’s better that I leave. I’ll write, I swear. I might visit you but it’s safer if I leave.”

“No!” Alice cried. Carlisle stepped in. “Alice, it’s not good for you to get worked up. Calm down.”

“I’m not calming down if he’s going to leave!” Alice screamed. I knew how much Alice loved Jasper.

“I’m sorry,” Jasper murmured.

“Shut up!” Alice screeched. “Please!” She stopped shouting. “Please,” she whispered. “Please stay. For me?”

Jasper groaned. “Do you have any idea how hard it is when you plead with me like this?” “Oh I definitely know the feeling,” Edward sighed, glaring at me. I looked away, exchanging grimaces with Alice. She gave me a sad grin. “He loves you,” I mouthed. “I hope so,” she sighed, suddenly at my side. “If I stay,” Jasper said, choosing his words carefully. “Will you promise to stay with me wherever you go? I know Maria so I can protect you.” Alice opened her mouth to protest but I stood on her foot. “Alice,” I murmured. “Do you want him to stay or not?” Alice shut up. I could see her deciding. “Okay,” she said. “I’ll stay with you. As long as you stay here.” “I promise,” Jasper assured her. Alice let out a breath of relief.
