Rio was outside, fixing up the chicken coop that had been slightly damaged because of the recent weather. It was still raining, but it wasn't as bad. The chickens watched her judgmentally as she hammered nails and adjusted the wooden planks.
Rio attempted to lift one of the planks out of the way, not noticing a nail sticking out. The nail pierced her skin as she lifted it, scraping and cutting through her flesh.
She quickly dropped the wood, yelping in pain. There was already blood dripping, making her bite her lip. It was a deep wound, and she knew it would require more than a bandaid.
She sighed, safely adjusting it this time as not to risk injuring the animals. She made her way back into the house, her keys jingling as she unlocked the door.
Agatha was on the couch, holding a book she wasn't really reading. "You okay?" She called out, turning to look at her, and the sight quickly made her drop her book. "Rio! What the hell happened to your arm?" She quickly walked over to her, looking down at her forearm.
"Nail. Scraped my arm." Rio chuckled.
Agatha's brows furrowed, "We need to get you to the hospital so they can clean you up-"
"No, no." Rio protested, "No hospital. I hate them."
Agatha shook her head with a sigh, signalling to the couch. Rio sat down, watching as Agatha rushed into the bathroom.
She came back out shortly with a first aid kit. Agatha sat down in front of Rio and laid a towel on her lap, before patting it. Rio reluctantly put her arm down. Agatha frowned at the sight, looking at the gushing wound on Rio's forearm.
"How did you even manage this?" She sighed, "I've got to clean it though, it's gonna hurt."
"I know." Rio whined, watching as Agatha as she took out a packet of cotton pads, and a sterile solution spray.
Agatha sprayed the cotton pad to the point it was dripping. She looked up at Rio, raising an eyebrow. "Ready?"
Rio nodded, closing her eyes. The cotton pad made contact with the wound, making Rio wince in pain, hissing through her teeth. "Damn it."
"I know." Agatha sighed, "But it's got to be cleaned."
Rio sighed, opening one eye to see Agatha carefully cleaning away the blood from her forearm. Agatha took a roll of bandage and partially unrolled it, wrapping it around Rio's arm.
"It needs to be tight, but if it feels like it might cut off your circulation, tell me."
Rio chuckled, and Agatha took a pair of scissors and cut the bandage. It was now securely around Rio's arm, who moved it to experiment. "It's good. Thank you Agatha."
Agatha sighed, running her thumb over her knuckles, "You gotta be more careful, alright?"
Rio nodded, "I know, I will. Sorry for scaring you."
Agatha shook her head, "Don't worry. We'll change the bandage every day, if it starts getting worse, you're getting medical attention and that's non negotiable."
Rio groaned, "Fine."
Agatha smiled, patting her lap once again. Rio obliged, laying across the couch and rested her head on Agatha's thighs.
Rio was tired, and unwillingly closed her eyes as she got comfortable. Agatha turned on the TV but set the volume down low, as Rio quickly fell asleep. Agatha looked at her arm again, sighing. She was worried of infection, but she couldn't force Rio to go to the hospital now, so she let her be. Until then, she'd be fine with Agatha.
