Chapter Seven:

You thought to yourself for a while. Is it really okay that Ayato and you were going to be living together? You liked to have your personal space.... What were you saying? You've been friends with him forever, hell you've lived with him during college. You'd be fine, he was one of your closest friends after all.

You were snapped out of your thoughts when you heard a knock on your door. You knew who that was. "Coming!" You exclaimed, jumping up and heading towards the door.

Ayato stood there, moving people behind him. You helped all of them move your stuff that was in boxes to the moving van. You hopped in Ayato's car and you drove to your new apartment, moving van following.

"I'm glad we found a good apartment." Ayato stated, breaking the comfortable silence.

You smiled, and then frowned. "We're moving all of our stuff in but then we'll just have to move out again when we have our break up... Wait. We can just say we stayed friends!" You stated seriously.

"Yeah, I'd hate to move in then move out." He responded with a smile.

"It's settled then." You replied. You got out of the car when you pulled up in front of a nice apartment.

You had always known that Ayato and Touka were loaded, but looking at the apartment was definitely a confirmation of that. It was huge, and Ayato had insisted on paying for most of it, even though you had given him puppy eyes and demanded that you should pay for it. You had dragged him into this mess but he wouldn't give in. That's true friendship there.

"Well, this will be our home for a while then." Ayato commented, nodding in approval as the moving people brought in all the boxes and furniture.

"Thank you!" You said to the moving people after paying them. They smiled and drove away as you waved. "Now we need to unpack all this shit man. I still can't believe that we own this place!" You exclaimed.

Someone knocked on the door and you frowned in confusion. Had the movers forgotten something?

Ayato shoved you out of the way and opened the door. It was Touka, Hide and Kaneki. They were all holding gifts. "Surprise!" They chorused. Ayato smiled, you knew he had been up to something, he had been typing away on his phone all day.

"It's nice to see you guys!" You exclaimed, ushering them inside. "You can put the stuff, uh, over on the kitchen table." You added. They dropped their stuff on the table before sitting down around it.

"So we brought some Chinese takeout and alcohol to christen your new home!" Hide exclaimed cheerfully, pulling the food out of the plastic bags.

"We also brought some gifts." Touka added.

"Thanks!" You replied, pulling out some plastic forks and paper plates to dish the food out. You filled plates for a while before grabbing a beer out of one of the plastic bags. You popped the tab and took a sip before sitting at the table next to Kaneki and Ayato.

"Okay while we eat, I'm going to give my gift to my little brother and y/n." Touka said cheerfully holding out a small package. You said a quick thanks and let Ayato open it. You blushed and smacked Touka hard on the arm. Hide and Kaneki both burst into laughter as well.

"What the actual fuck?" Ayato stated, looking annoyed. "Condoms really? Mature, really mature." He added. You laughed despite the bright red blush staining your cheeks.

"Hey, don't pretend like they won't be useful. And they're not just condoms, they're strawberry flavored." She replied. She held out another, slightly bigger box, saying "Okay, here's your real present."

You opened it carefully. "Oh thank you, I've always thought that these were pretty cool." You replied, smiling at Touka. It was a sodastream.

"You're welcome." She responded, settling back into her chair and letting Hide present his gift.

"Okay so I wasn't really sure what to get you two. I hope you guys like it!" Hide stated with a smile.

Ayato opened the package this time. "Thank you!" You chimed together. It was a package of most of the Studio Ghibli films with a popcorn machine.

"This is seriously awesome." You stated seriously, giving Hide a huge hug.

"Woah woah, wouldn't want your man to get jealous." Hide teased and you booped his nose.

"Here." Kaneki stated, hanging you a package and Ayato a package. Ayato opened his first, it was some dvd and books about Karate and techniques and it's history. Ayato said a quick thanks, slapping Kaneki on the back in a friendly manner.

You felt a bit apprehensive, wondering what your gift was. You opened the small box and looked at the gift in surprise. It was a simple black cord bracelet with two silver wings on it.

"This is beautiful... Thank you Kaneki." You said, stunned. You weren't expecting something like this, simple but obviously expensive. "I-I don't know if I can accept this. It's so expensive and I just-" You started.

"Hey, hey. I bought that for you so you better wear it." Kaneki interrupted your rant. Hide was giving Kaneki a strange look, making Hide, the usually cheerful and happy person look annoyed and disappointed.

"Okay." You replied simply, slipping the bracelet on. It was light and made small chime sounds when you moved.

"Hey babe. How does unpacking sound?" Ayato asked you, playing the role of a besotted boyfriend perfectly.

"Unpacking sounds great." You replied, pecking him on the cheek and walking over to the boxes.

"We can help, that's what we're here for anyways." Hide stated cheerfully.

"Thank you! That would be awesome!" You stated cheerfully. You then paused. How were you going to explain why you and Ayato were sleeping in different rooms? You thought quickly, making it up as you went. "Ayato and I kind of want our personal space so we have our own rooms, but we can always share beds." You commented, hoping it was convincing.

Touka and Hide nodded, seeming pretty convinced. Kaneki on the other hand narrowed his eyes before nodding and lighting up a little bit. Touka helped you unpack your stuff and put it away in your room while Hide, Kaneki and Ayato did his room and the rest of the apartment.

You were making your bed when Touka looked at you seriously and commented, "you know that my brother has had a crush on you since you were in elementary school."

You choked a little bit. You turned to her, "seriously?"

Touka nodded and continued to unpack your books. "He'd come home everyday from school and talk about you for ages. It was obvious. I honestly thought you had a thing for Kaneki, not gonna lie." She sounded a bit bitter at the end.

"I don't have a thing for Kaneki. And even if I did, I wouldn't make a move because you are so obviously head over heels for him." You responded, throwing your arms around Touka and hugging her.

Touka smiled, "I know." She responded.

"I'm going to let go now."

I'm not super happy with the end of this chapter but I'm happy that I'm finally getting back into writing more!
