Unbreakable (Eventual Kaneki Ken x Reader)

Chapter Ten:

 You sighed, neither Kaneki nor Touka had come to you. Of course, Hide and Ayato came to talk to you immediately. You thanked them for their support and told them what Kaneki had said after they left. They were shocked but you told them it was fine and that you were sure that you would make up with them soon.

Surprisingly, later that day Kaneki came to you. You had expected Touka to come first. "I'm not going to apologize for anything I said because I know it hurt you a lot and hearing a half assed apology isn't going to make it better. But I'm here to explain some things that happened and why Touka tried to hurt you." He stated.

"Well it's time for explaining then. You did some pretty shitty things, dickwad." You retorted, letting him in with a frown. You grabbed a cup of coffee for both of you before sitting down and looking Kaneki straight in the eyes. "Time for some explaining to happen." You said, being very blunt and straightforward.

"Well..." Kaneki started. "As you may know, Touka asked me out yesterday, or at least confessed. I have no romantic thoughts of her, though she is a good friend. But she wouldn't take no for an answer. She demanded to know the reason that I didn't want to date her, other than there being no attraction. I am... interested in someone else and I told her who. Touka didn't take it very well." He finished.

You were silent and frozen. "Well fuck. You don't just drop shit on people like that." You replied. "Wait. So who were you interested in?" You asked curiously.

Kaneki laughed, "I know you've figured it out y/n, you're not dumb and neither am I."

Of course you had already figured it out, you were just trying to deny it for as long as possible. "I-I'm dating Ayato." You stuttered out, feeling uncomfortable. Is this how Kaneki felt when Touka confessed? Hurt and confused?

He sighed, looking exasperated. "And that's exactly why I tried to explain that you were fake dating, which you obviously weren't. It was a really shitty thing for me to do after your fight with Touka. That's why I kept questioning Ayato's actions and how you felt about them. And I sincerely apologize for that." Kaneki stated firmly, retaining eye contact.

"Thank you for your apology and explanation. I know that we're not back to being one hundred percent friends right now, but we're on our way there again." You responded. "And I'm sorry for the things I said to you." You continued.

After a bit more time and small talk, Kaneki left. Things weren't perfect, but they were on their way to being fixed.

Now you just had to deal with Touka.

You had a feeling this wasn't going to be easy.
