Aizawa:

I stroll down the hall, unsure how I will talk to her. She is one of the best heroes in the world for a father, with an incredible record in arrests and teaching, and she got hurt anyway.

I swore I would make all the difference. I was supposed to give Hotaru a future and improve her life.

I'm not walking toward her room now; I'm just pacing until I'm given permission. Finally, I lean against a wall, smelling the antiseptic and other hospital odors. I close my eyes and remember the first day I met her.

...

...

It was a dark night four years ago. The moon was in the sky, illuminating the city's rooftops for miles. I waited for the big guy to finally arrive while I reviewed my intel from my latest informant, Micky.

He had shared intel on the villain Chizuru, better known as the Horned Owl. She has super strength and can sprout wings on a dime and use them to slingshot herself at opponents. My erasure didn't seem to work on her. I had tangled with her three times before, and she had bypassed it entirely.

Chizuru was a bit of a dealer. She distributed drugs that quickly enhanced quirks, but often at a high cost to the user. Repeated use frequently resulted in blindness, addiction, and sometimes even death. I had even seen a student sneaking her "products" once. He lost the use of his promising sound control quirk, vision, and ability to taste food, and I'm pretty sure it did something to his mind, but that could have been the result of everything else.

My notes gave away the location of Horned Owl's underground lab, and I had this one chance to take her down and destroy all of her work for good. I would not fail.

I started mapping out my route to the lab as I heard a laugh in the distance. In a moment, his feet slammed down on the rooftop. I looked up from crouching over my map and huffed.

I rolled up the map. "Try taking something seriously for once in your life, All Might."

The man continued to grin, "I'm always serious; this grin is a symbol of security and-"

"Yeah, yeah, you've given me the speech half a dozen times." I got up and looked over the city.

"You know the government wants Horned Owl's research. They want to stay ahead of quirk enhancement research, even if the product is incomplete." All Might pointed out, his massive muscular figure standing over me, casting a shadow even in the night atmosphere.

"What? So this drug continues to exist so more kids can shove it into their veins?"

"I would think they mean to protect it from that."

"They'll mass produce it for experiments; some crazies will inevitably steal samples... You know how it goes."

"Better to end this here and now," All Might said. "I'll charge the front of the facility and take on any henchmen directly; you take one of the smuggler's routes and "accidentally start a fire." I'll have to bring down the house to keep it from spreading. No life will be lost, but, unfortunately, Horned Owl's research will be lost."

"The government will have to find another way to stay "ahead of the curve."

We both looked out over the city again. "I could pick you up and drop you off closer to the smuggler route. Piggyback?"

"My legs work just fine; transport yourself," I said as I took out a small walkie-talkie, fed a wire behind my neck, and placed a transmitter over my ear. "Ready to go?"
