Aizawa:
I sit in Principal Nezu's office, holding my head in my hands. Beside me sits Hizashi Yamada, my best friend for fifteen years, hardly able to look at me.
I sigh, looking over the ornate desk into the eyes of Nezu, usually kind and caring, now holding back anger and moving with indecision.
"You said this? I quote, "The Yamadas deserve so much better than you, Henry; your sister deserves better." I hesitantly nod. Nezu continues. "You're one of the most valuable teachers in this school, but this simply cannot go on."
"The school is already under attack by the League of Villains; we don't need a second group attacking us-"
"We do NOT negotiate with criminal scum, and we never will!" Nezu snaps over my comment. "The Miles Organization's attack will not cause us to relinquish the safety of even one student, let alone one as young and vulnerable as Henry and his sister. If we back away from them, they will not stand a chance against Miles. All of this isn't even mentioning how valuable those two are to this school financially; I won't lose that much money without a legitimate reason." he shakes his head and puts his snout in his paws.
I grit my teeth. "You can't sacrifice the entire school for favoritism-"
"Favoritism?!" Hizashi snaps. "You should talk. My son has been struggling like hell to get his grades aligned and meet standards, all while we're slated to have him give his sixth presentation on the inner workings of organized crime this weekend. You think that's something even groups like the Yakuza want him doing?" He stands up and walks over to the window, looking out of the office, distinctly looking away from me. "Favoritism? My son is struggling and risking his life- what exactly did Hotaru do to earn her way into this school? Her grades are subpar, and really, all she's doing is coasting on school resources for an education. UA gets nothing from her, and yet it's MY kid whose head is supposed to be on the chopping block, according to you?"
"She has nowhere else to go. If I'm not on call to shut off her powers, she could devastate any school or home by accident. She hasn't been in control long enough-" but Hizashi interrupts me.
"She could live at the facility or in your apartment for the rest of her life," he says, then shrugs.
"How dare you!"
"If you succeed in getting Henry removed, where does he go?" Hizashi asks.
"Realistically? Probably a safe house where he'll be isolated... without much of a future," I look down.
"Am I asking so much here?" Hizashi stomps his foot. "The school is letting him pass or fail on his own steam, where your kid is treated like she's too important to fail... besides, look at all he's doing. What more could my son possibly do to make you understand that he's genuine? He NEVER wanted the life he had. Henry is a victim, and you're trying to throw him out? What's going on? This isn't like you. This isn't like my friend."
"He DID want that life!" I say through gritted teeth. Then I sigh and look down again. "He did. I offered to help him get out of it several times, and as I understand, I'm not the only one. He always turned down hands when they were extended to him." I purse my lips, then continue, "He wasn't this kid crying in the corner, begging for mercy as he was puppeted along. He had chances, and he rejected them."
"How was he to know if he took a chance with you that his sister would have survived?" Nezu finally interjects. "I understand your frustrations, Aizawa, but you're acting like all he had to do was take an extended hand. The fact is that Henry made his mistakes and did his work. He passes or fails based on his own merits; that's not a point that's up for debate." he shakes his head. "I didn't call you in to argue. I called you in to make an ultimatum. You have lost your professionalism. Get it back, or you will be let go. We do not blame students for the actions of villains, and we certainly don't demean them while they are near mourning for an injured loved one. Your behavior towards Henry will improve. Either you will cease all interaction, or you will improve when you do interact. I don't care which, but I've had enough. I will not have a grown instructor enacting a petty vendetta against a twelve-year-old."
