~(Jacob's Pov)~

Jared had argued hard for us to come back. He couldn't seem to understand that I didn't ask for any of them to follow me. Seth wanted to protect his questionably chosen friends, Leah wanted to get away from Sam and Aurora is damn near uncontrollable

He tried to say it was cruel of me to keep her away from Paul. As if I had any say in the matter. If she had wanted to stay with Paul, she would've. When all this is over I want nothing more for all of them to rejoin Sam's pack so she and Paul can go ride into the sunset together.

It was probably for the best that Aurora had stayed back to guard the house. If she had heard him say those things she would've stopped him one way or another. Paul was a no-go subject with her. If we even thought of him she got mad. That's why she spends more time as a human. When she's with us we can feel her pain and then we think of him and she gets angrier. It's a vicious cycle that ends with her snapping and storming off. Since she's been back she's been relatively calm but now she puts Leah's attitude to shame. It makes the stories Annabeth told more believable.

Just when we got back and she came for an update, she saw what Jared said about Paul being miserable. Leah couldn't stop herself before she thought it was a good thing that he would be distracted if it came to a fight. She only barely got away before Aurora bit her, shouting insults the whole time.

I hate to agree, but Leah was right. Any advantage we had helped. The only problem is the risk of Rosie freezing if she has to face Paul. I would never ask her to fight him, even if I did I'm sure she'd rather hurt me than him.

The whole situation was getting worse and I don't know how to stop it. I don't know how much longer we can go on like this anyway. Not having a home was taking its toll on us, Jared was right about that. Edward had offered us the amenities that we were missing by being. It would be weird to rely on the generosity of bloodsuckers if we agreed.

The Cullen's presence had scared away all the food so we've been eating fish that Aurora catches. Catch isn't quite the right word for what she does. She says she's calling to them, whatever that means. Even then Leah's been skipping meals because she doesn't like the raw meat.

We didn't have any clothes either. Aurora got a robe from one of them and we found a stash of clothing she left nearby but it wasn't enough. The clothes only fit Leah and there were no shoes so we were all barefoot. Sleeping wasn't too bad. There are softer parts of the forest floor that make a good enough bed.

Aurora was the most adjusted out of all of us. Whenever something happened, we got glimpses of her past. Seth whined about the cold stream when he was rinsing off and we saw how she broke into a house once to shower. Or when Leah snubbed another uncooked meal, Rosie thought of the time she pretended to be part of a birthday at the park. It seemed like for every inconvenience we faced she had worse. No wonder she had so much time to think of Paul, she was already used to everything else.

An iris call later and I found nothing that could help Bella. Will and Annabeth had both looked through all the available records and found little to nothing. They sent what they had plus what they got from Camp Jupiter. It was added to the piles the Cullens were already going through. I helped a little, reading the ancient Greek translations so they could focus on the others. I promised to keep them both up to date on what happened so that someone else might be able to use it in the future. Will had said he would overnight one of the camp's celestial bronze scalpels. So at least the drachma didn't go to waste.

Whatever time I didn't spend on patrols, I was with Bella. No one really knew how to act with each other. Leah stayed outside the most. Seth too. Jake spent as much time inside with Bella as he could before the sight and winces became too much for him.

I found out that Bella really liked it when I made water reflect different colors in the air. She called it her personal rainbow. There was some trial and error before I got the shapes right but then there were little water animals dancing through the air too. It took a little imagination to see the shapes as animals but it still worked.

Jake had appointed me Bella's guard. If anything happens I'm supposed to stay back and make sure none of the wolves, or possible vrykolakas, hurt her. We joked that I was her bodyguard, she joked. Bella was the only one who was really in the mood to joke. It's hard to watch someone you love die. She didn't seem to feel the same resignation as everyone else. She still thought everything would turn out okay. That she would have her baby and life would go on. I wonder if she had grown up as other half-bloods if she'd still be so hopeful. Maybe legacies led different lives, it wasn't like there were many Greek examples.

The Cullens were getting hungrier by the day. They couldn't leave to hunt and they needed more blood than fish had to offer. I don't know how often they have to eat. Bella had told me once that their eyes changed color when they were hungry and right now every eye was black. Already Jasper had isolated himself in a far room of the house when Bella was "eating" her food. She was going through a lot of the blood Carlisle had stocked. She looked better after a few days of it, still weak but any improvement was good. At least Jake's plan helped, he was conflicted with every move he made with her. Not having as many people in the pack meant we had more space to see each other clearly.

Paul still met me at the boundary line. We couldn't hear each other anymore and it was a risk to have him know my patrol schedule. That didn't stop me from going to him every night to sleep.

Carlisle said the baby would be here in a few days. Only a matter of days left before Bella died and her child was left motherless. It also meant we would have to fight within a week.

There still wasn't a solid plan. No one wanted to be realistic enough to sit down and discuss one. Sam wanted the baby dead. Once it's born they'll be nothing stopping him. The only option is to get the child to a safe place. But even then what's safe for a half-vrykolak baby? I only know how to take care of one type of half-blood and that isn't it.

The hunger had finally gotten too strong for the Cullens to resist. They had to go hunt or they wouldn't be able to help against the wolves. And Carlisle needed to be at full strength to deliver the baby.

They had waited till there was a break in the wolves' patrol to go. They were meant to be back soon and until then I was permanently assigned to the house. We kept our patrols running like normal,so as to not give anything away but any free time meant staying in the house for me. When the smell got too much I went to sit on the giant patio where the breeze helped wash away the sickly sweet scent.

It was almost peaceful sitting out there. Like a moment free of time grasp. Everything was still till it wasn't.

A horrifying shriek from inside the house cut through the quiet.

It was Bella.

Somehow this whole chapter had no dialouge and I don't know how. I think it still works fine without it. Thoughts? I feel like im lossing the plot a little. At this point I'm just trying to write to finish the story and have it be done. I am planning a rewrite with a complete overhaul. I'll start working on that as soon as I am done with this. I think my issue I'm mixing the new version of the characters that I have with the old one so it's harder for me to write in the old voice the story started with. Anyways, enjoy! (1,357 words)
