25. Training #2

~(Aurora's Pov)~ 

While the pack was getting ready for their second day of instruction from Jasper we learned that because of our elevated body temperature we burn off coffee really fast. It was very sad everyone was drinking individual pots of coffee to stay awake and still yawning.  Unlike me who was able to take a shower and come out feeling wide awake. Because of that discovery, Sma decided that only a few of us had to go today seeing as we could just share what we learned over the pack link. Jake was charged with going in Sam's steed and Embry and Quil volunteered to join. It was basically a given that I was going to go and Paul came to be with me. As the five of us ran to the clearing everyone was trying their best to stay awake so the Vrykolakas did not see us at anything less than a hundred percent.

We all got positioned and I shifted back to go wait for the rest of the Cullen plus Bella to get there. I decided to leave my bag of armor at home because from watching the demonstrations last night it seemed like agility would be more of an advantage than bulk. I only had my hair in a ponytail for practice but for when the actual fight day go there I planned on having someone braid it up so it would be out of the way.

When Bella and Edward finally got there they took a while to talk but we kept ourselves busy watching Emmet and Jasper playfight in the center. Jacob's mind was instantly filled with thoughts of Bella as soon as he saw her. Honestly, the best description is a lovesick puppy despite the irony.

Jake went over to talk to Bella or more like talk to Bella through Edward. 

"So you gonna freak out if I spar today?" I asked Paul who was waiting next to me.

He couldn't respond but he gave me a look that I figured meant he would do exactly that even if I told him it was fine.

"You're impossible" I sighed 

"Look at him acting like an idiot" I pointed over to Jacob who was currently letting Bella use him as a pillow and loving every second of it.

I swear if a wolf could facepalm that was what Paul would be doing looking over at the pair.

"I'm so glad I don't have to hear what he is thinking right now" I truly was. Paul whined in response

Jake wouldn't even be able to see the fighting from where he was sat which was the whole point of coming. Honestly, I don't know why he is second-in-command when his main priority is fostering his unrequited crush.

"So today we will be going over multiple attackers and how to defend against them" Jasper started the lesson. "First I'll have Rosalie and Carlise attack and I will show you how to defend"

It was amazing to watch how Jasper was able to avoid the other two Vrykolakas attacked and even trip them up on the process.

"Ok now that I have demonstrated it is someone else's turn, Ra," Jasper said looking at me "I will let you choose Emmet and I or Edward and Emmet," he asked

"Why not all three" I smiled. Oh, this was gonna be fun

Paul was less excited and moved to a crouching position to attack if need be. Everyone turned to look at the four of us in the center even jake who looked like he had a sleeping Bella on him.

They were all smiling as they stepped forward and I unleashed Tsunami.

"Well, come on boys I don't have all night" I teased them because they were taking a while.

"Just giving you a chance to back out, a god born" Emmet joked

"And miss beating you all never" I changed my grip on my sword.

They must have been waiting because all at once they charged me with Jasper coming in first. I was able to jump up in time to push off his outstretched hand and kick-off. But Edward saw what I was thinking about it and grabbed ahold of my foot midair and pulled me back down. As I was falling Emmet tried to lunge at me but I butted him in the nose with the hilt of my sword. He grabbed his nose as I hit the ground and rolled away. 

"That all you got boys" I laugh as they plan the next attack

I tried clearing my mind so I wouldn't give anything away to Edward. They tried a different tactic and all circled me before they charged. I swung Tsunami and was able to keep them at bay for a little while but Jasper grabbed the sword and spun it so my back was to his chest with the sword between me and his arms. I remember his lesson about not letting them get their arms around you though so I quickly dug the edge of the sword into his arm and pulled my weight down to through him over my shoulders. As he was falling forward I swung Tsunami to be under his neck and cut just a little bit of his hair off. Emmet and Edward didn't waste any time though and we're already reaching for me again. The mind-reading was really getting on my nerves so it was time to distract him.  I started thinking of Bella falling and hurting herself while watching us and things that I knew would distract him. It worked because for a second I was able to trip him up using the water on the ground. I took advantage of his momentary loss of traction and shoulder slammed him as hard as I could into Emmet. They both toppled for a second but Edward got up just as fast. I again had another Cullens throat by my sword though because Emmet did not recover in time.

"Two down one to go, you're next" I smiled at Edward

"I was going easy on you before now you're in trouble," Edward said back

Using Bella wasn't gonna work again also I had to come up with a new way of distracting him. I decided that this time I was gonna focus on the fights that I had previously been in. I saw him smile because he thought my plan figured out after he failed to grab me the second time in a row he realized I was messing with I him. Instead of copying my old moves, I was using the moves of my opponents. He still hadn't figured it out though and I was able to spin onto the top of his shoulders and grasp Tsunami across his throat.

The wolves howled as I shouted celebrating my victory as I climbed off Edward's shoulders. He helped me get down but then swept my legs out from under me when I was on the ground.

"I'll beat you again" I joked grabbing his outstretched hand and we both laughed.

I walked back over to Paul to sit down and he happily licked my face like there was any doubt that I would lose.

"That was a perfect example of what to do in that scenario although next time less trash-talking, Ra" Jasper mock glared at me his uneven hair already grown back

"It's part of my process" I called back

Jasper went over a few more things then said that was all he could teach us to prepare us and end class.

Jake finally detached himself from Bella when we all started to leave so he could go back with us. He did nothing but cuddle up to Bella the whole night. At least I know I haven't gotten rusty with my fighting. I just hope I do as well when the actual fight gets here.
