Firehouse 51

Chapter 2

Dawson's POV
It has been two weeks since the building exploded. A week since Peter Mills has passed. A week since my best friend, my partner, and the sister I never had has been in a coma. Firehouse 51 has been quiet since Mills's passing. We are a family here at 51 and when a member of our family passes it never goes back to the way it was with them here. His wake and funeral was hard especially for me considering our past with each other. Everyone was there except Severide and of course Shay. Shay hasn't woken up from coma yet and Severide has barely left her side unless it's to go to the bathroom, shower, or to eat something. I go there everyday and bring him a change of clothes. My heart brakes seeing her like that. I'm starting to lose hope but I know I can't. She wouldn't want me to just give up. Shay doesn't have any family left so it was just the people from the firehouse and intelligence that were coming to visit her. I really miss her, having her around. I miss her inappropriate jokes she would make on the way to a call. I need my best friend back.

Severides POV
It has been two weeks since Shay has been in a coma and I haven't left her side. I'm sitting here for the fourteenth day to be exact and I feel like I need to tell her how I have always felt even though she cannot hear me.

"Shay, listen to me. It has been two weeks since you've been in here and I miss you like crazy. I miss our little jokes or arguments. I miss your laugh. Truth is, your laugh was always my favorite thing about you besides your smile and your eyes. I love you Shay. I always have. I know your into girls and everything but that doesn't change my love for you one bit. Everything about you is perfect to me and I really need you wake up so I can have my best friend back. I love you Shay." When he was done talking to her, he put his head down and started to cry.

"I love you too." Severide immediately shot his head up and a huge smile grew on his face when he saw she was awake.

"Your awake!" Severide exclaimed shocked but still happy

"No shit sherlock! Come over here and give me a hug." Shay replied laughing

"You scared me, Shay. Don't do it again." Severide told her once they let go of each other

"Yes sir! Kelly there is something I need you to know." Shay said getting serious

"What is it Shay?" Severide asked getting nervous to what she had to tell him

"I heard what you said just before I opened my eyes."

"Listen Shay, I meant every word of that but if you don't want to be friends anymore-" Kelly started to say but Shay cut him off

"I love you too Kelly. Ever since that night we did it, I realized I wanted to be with you. You changed me. I used to think I was untouchable by men but you changed that. Now I am straight and I want to be with you. I love you."

"I love you too. So does this mean I can do this more than at night now?" Severide asked with a smirk before he kissed her long and passionately

"I would be disappointed if you didn't!" Shay told him while laughing

No Ones POV
Severide had just started kissing Shay again when they were interrupted by someone freaking out.

"Omg, I'm sorry to interrupt but I cannot believe you guys finally happened!! We all knew it was just a matter of time. I mean I knew about the baby thing and that one night but now that it's official I'm so happy for you guys!!" Dawson exclaimed as she ran over to hug Shay and Severide.

"Actually Dawson, it's not official yet because someone hasn't even asked me out yet." Shay said pouting trying not to laugh

"Looks like we're going to have to change that. Leslie Shay will you do me the honor of going out on a date with me?" Severide asked giving Shay a beautiful charm bracelet with five charms on it: in the middle was an L for Leslie, to its far left was the paramedic symbol, to the right of that was the numbers 51 combined as one charm for Firehouse 51, to the far right of the L for Leslie was a heart with L+K engraved in it, and to the left of that was a little ambulance with 61 engraved in it for ambulance 61.

"Of course, it would be an honor Mr.Severide." Shay replied

They shared another long, passionate kiss before Dawson left and Severide got into the hospital bed with Shay and cuddled with her until they both fell asleep not even twenty minutes after. They both went to sleep thinking how this is how they wanted to spend their free time. Being together.
