As the sun shone its bright light
illuminating the negatives I hide,
my mother's capable hands raise above
hiding them again in the dark

I stand with my sister,
as her spotlight hits
leaving me in the shade,
as much as she tries, there is no room for me, this is her light

My father's shadow
barely visible, he is so far
yet his voice still carries whispers of sweet promises he is yet to keep

On a desperate venture for light,
I befriend a stray cat, our paths alligned so that we could have met
I let her know my troubles, and suddenly,
in the distance, I see a dim light
I'll come back for you, sweet Cat

I find myself in the same place as a honeybee
smiling as it performs its waggle dance
but even so I must bid farewell,
she has her own sweetness as I lust to find mine

So many more friends made,
parts of myself shared.
I  finally find my light
amongst those who don't care if it shines too bright
in their eyes
"our lightwaves vibate at the same frequency"
my smile, holds on to some sad

because yet again, I must bid farewell,
I may have found my light
but the shadows beckon me
I must go back to my place
underneath my family tree
