"Sign the marriage papers and you can meet your father", Viaan extended the papers in his hand for her.
Earlier when he told her about her father, for a minute she stilled but didn't believe him. But now, seeing her father through the phone where he is lying on a hospital bed, breathing, existing-still alive was nearly taking her breathe away.
She couldn't believe , her dad-the one who raised her was still alive. For two years she was in grief about his death which had left no clue behind. She tried to much, to find something, anything but she got nothing out of it.
After one year of struggles, she lost herself and believed he was dead, but looking at him, still breathing was no less than a miracle.
"Wh-y is he in this state? ", her voice came almost inaudible as clutched the phone as her lifeline. Why does everything have to be like this for her? . If after all difficulties she found her father still, she wished him to be well so at least now she could spend a moment of happiness.
But even that is not possible for her.
"He was in coma. Woke just a month ago", Viaan was calm, he tried his best to steel his emotions but there was a hint of concern, which of course she didn't notice or she didn't wanted to.
She closed her eyes tightly, bracing herself to face him without letting him show her vulnerability. But to how she is lying, he would read her like an open book even when her face didn't display a hint of something. And worst she came to knew about it too. But still she tried.
"What's your benefit behind marrying me? ", she hissed, already too tired to deal with him.
" That's for me to find out. You don't need to worry ", With that he left the room leaving her swirling in her own suffocating thoughts. Her eyes stayed on his retreating figure until he got out of her sight.
With a heavy sigh, she sat on the couch. After a lot of thinking, she decided what she needed to do. Standing she made her way to his room, which was hers before he decided to barge in her house like it belonged to him.
She slammed the door with a loud thud, which almost made the near glass table tremble due to the force of it. "I'm ready to sign this-shit. Just let me meet him".
" Okay then, I'll submit it to Court after your signature and we can meet him tomorrow ", he said calmly coming near.
He stood in front of her, his posture unfazed-not even a little out of place. He reached out, his fingers brushing the strands of her hair delicately behind her ear. She made disgusted face, but in actual a shiver ran to her spine, sharp and unapologetic.
She thought she could mask her emotions, but he smirked as he clearly felt her shudder under his touch. He took his back, stuffing them his pants pocket. That's when she noticed, he had changed into a three piece black office attire. Seeing him in this type of clothes were rare, as he would casually wear something related to his hospital or casual outfits.
