LYRIC

Rising up from the couch and setting my bowl of popcorn to the side, I went to answer the doorbell.

I wasn't expecting anybody so I had no clue who it was. It was Sunday afternoon and I was doing the only thing I loved to do, nothing.

"I'm coming , jeez!" I yelled opening the door only to be met with the last person I expected to see. My ex, Callie.

"What are you doing here?" I managed to get out, inspecting the person in front of me.

His fade now was filled with dropping dread locks and he still had that smooth chocolate skin that I adored. Although he managed to get more taller and masculine than I remembered he looked the same, just with more facial hair.

"Damn, you ain't glad to see a nigga?"

I forced a smile on my face and pulled him in for a hug, letting his arms wrap around me and his scent invade my nostrils. He smelled so good, and I would be lying if I said that it didn't feel good to have someone hold me like this after such a long time.

I broke away and motioned for him to come inside.

"You look good Lyric, all grown up and shit."

"Thanks," I blushed. "You don't look too bad yourself.

"Too bad? Stop frontin." He chuckled and sat down on the sofa.

Cocky ass nigga.

"You still didn't answer my question, how'd you know where I live? And how come you're here?" I grabbed a glass of wine from the kitchen cabinet and began pouring both of our glasses.

I was still trying to process everything that had just happened. I hadn't seen anybody from my past in years, and I needed to calm my nerves down.

Handing him his glass, I sat next to him, sipping on my wine.

"Well ya know, Ima producer and shit now. So I came down here to get some shit done, meet a few people. Everything been working."

"Really? I'm happy for you." Callie always had a passion for music. I began to remember those long nights in the studio I spent with him after he graduated from high school.

"And your mom told me."

"Mom?"

"Yea... Your mom"

"How does she know where I live?"

"The school gave her your address.." He paused and looked up ,"damn, yall still not talking?"

I shook my head. She knew where I was this whole time and didn't even try to see how I was doing or if I was okay. A year of not talking for what reason? Shit was petty.

"Nope" I mumbled, drinking the rest of the wine.

"Both of yall stubborn as hell, just try to see how she doing Lyric."

I rose up from the couch, getting the rest of the wine.

"No thank you. I've been doing just fine."

"Yea, I see that.." I felt him come behind me and press into my behind.

His hands moved up to my waist and I placed my hand ontop of his, trying to move them.

"Let's not start doing this Callie."

"Doing what?" He placed his head between the crook of my neck and began kissing on it.

"You know what. It's the same thing over and over," I turned around facing him, "we go back to being together and you just do what you want. What's the point?"

"The point is you know I love you and no matter what I do, can't nobody take your place. Everybody makes mistakes."

I knew he loved me. I was sure he did after all the years we had together. But love wasn't enough. It was about respect and priorities.

I looked down and shook my head. He picked my chin up with his finger ,"Yo, that was years ago, let the past be the past."

One thing remained true though, when you love somebody, you always seem to forgive them even when they didn't deserve it.

He leaned in and kissed my lips and I returned it.

"I missed you," he spoke between pecks.

"I missed you too."

He rose me up unto the counter and began lifting up my shirt as our kiss deepened.

DONTELL

"Wea this nigga at?" I turned my hat to the back and rubbed my hand down my face. I was supposed to be meeting up with this new producer to help finish up my mixtape. Singing was something I recently began to have a passion for and I was ready to take things to another level.

"Ima call and see where he at" My nigga Quinton said while sliding out the booth and tapping away on his phone. He was the one introducing me to him and so far I wasn't feeling it.

The door opened and in walked in some dark skinned nigga.

"My bad B, flight got delayed you know how shit be. " He began taking out a few things.

"I started to think you wasn't coming, wachu got for me?"

The track stopped and I lifted the headphones from my head. I exited the booth and went straight to the new producer dapping him up, "That shit was lit bruh"

"Yea, we gotta do some more work together."

Everybody nodded in approval. I felt good about the song. I felt like it was that ONE. The only that would take me to the top.

"Where the bitches and cups and shit at?" I looked around at everybody ," we gotta turn up a lil."

"Already ahead of you," Quinton said getting off the phone.

A few minutes later, the room was filled with music and girls were everywhere. We were passing blunts around and sipping out of the plastic cups.

"What's yo name again? Caleef?" I looked over at the new guy who had two girls on his lap whispering in his ear.

"Yea, just call me Callie though."
