"And it's like what the hell am I supposed to do? I ain't ready for no kids yet. We still young and- ..... Are you even listening to me?"
"Huh?" I looked up from my phone.
She straight faced me.
"What?I heard you."
"Then what did I say?" Taylor raised an eyebrow at me.
I moved the ice around in my cup with my straw and took a sip from my sprite,"Ummm, you said...." I looked around nervously.
She rolled her eyes,"I SAID, Josh been talkin about a baby lately and I don't want one just yet."
"Then don't. That's something you both have to agree on and if you're not ready then he just gotta respect that."
I looked back down at my phone and seen that I had a text back from Khari.
Papi K 😂💞😛☺️: Why? You miss me or somethin?
Me: Kinda 😒 I haven't seen you in a whole week
Papi K 😂💞😛☺️: My bad, just been busy handlin shit
Me: It's fine.
Papi K 😂💞😛☺️: I'm starvin up hea n shit.
Me: Want me to bring you somethin?
Papi K 😂💞😛☺️: You wanna bring me food or you just lookin for a reason to come see me? 😏
"What the hell you smiling about?" I looked up at Taylor squinting at me.
"Nothing. I'm not even smiling." A grin came across my face.
"Mmhmm. Is that the person who been havin you so distant lately?"
"I have not been distant. You know that I just moved into my new apartment and all that."
Me: K. Stay yo ass hungry.
Papi K 😂💞😛☺️: Stop playing wit me 😒
"Thanks for lunch though, I gotta go." I got up and kissed her cheek before putting my money on the table.

I walked into the store, Champs, and went up to the cashier's desk. "Sorry ma'am no foods or beverages are allowed in the store." A young man, probably 18 or 19 informed me.
"Yeah I know that, it's for Khari."
"Oh. He's in his office, it's to the back."
"Thanks." I went to the back like he said and opened the door, but the office was empty.
Confused, I left out and went back to the opening, seeing another door on the opposite side of the first one and going inside.
I stepped in and Khari was leaning back in his chair behind his desk, on the phone with his feet propped up on it.
He looked so good. He was sporting a grey Nike sweatsuit and white forces that seemed to get whiter every time he wore a pair. When he saw me, he held up his index finger signaling for me to hold on.
I had a seat in one of the chairs in front of the desk and set his Popeyes in front of him.
"Nah. We tryna get this shit in Cali, Miami, Texas, all dat."
He nodded to whatever the other person on the line was saying and pulled on his chin hair.
"We feel like it's time to expand...Of course we can handle it."
"Yea. I'll let you know all the information." He eyed me the whole time.
"Right... Ok."
I was tapping away at nothing in particular on my phone.
"Aight , I'll talk to you later. Aight"
Once he hung up, he grabbed the bag of food I brung him and immediately began taking out its contents. He mumbled a quick prayer before digging in.
"Wassup babygirl?"
"Nothing much. I was having lunch with Taylor."
"How dat go?" He took a sip of his drink.
"It was alright. You gon slow down or nah?" I laughed at how quickly he was eating.
"Don't try to play me like that."
"Whatever. Where's Josh?"
He shrugged his shoulders in response, " Ain't seen him all day. "
I twisted my lips to the side and tilted my head, "Hmmm, that's strange. Taylor said he was gonna be here."
He held a confused expression and stopped eating.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothin." He pulled out his phone and made a call which I assumed went straight to voicemail because he hung it right back up. "Actually, I rememba seeing him dis morning. He went to go meet with some people on the new locations."
"Oh..okay."
"Yea, speaking of that I gotta head out and do some shit in a minute."
"Well.. I don't wanna hold you up." I began grabbing my things and he rose up standing in front of me.
"Thanks fa the food."
"Mhm. Don't mention it." I ran my fingers through my hair and turned to go out.
I was kind of salty that me and Khari hadn't spent much time together lately. I didn't know what he was doing to me, but even if we still wasn't dating yet, I felt drawn to him. My feelings for him were becoming stronger and stronger, and there was only a matter of time until something pushed us to the next level.
"Lyric"
"Yea?" I turned back around.
"Come hea."
I bit my lip and stood in front of him, looking down.
"Imma come by tonight so be up, iight?" He grabbed my chin, making me look up at him.
"Ok." My mood quickly changed and a smile appeared.
Then. Something I didn't expect to happen, happened. He reached down and planted a soft kiss on my lips. I kissed back and placed my hand on his neck, deepening it. It was one of the best kisses I've ever experienced, and after we pulled away I couldn't stop blushing.
"See you lata."
KHARI
"Aye make sure you lock up. Call me if you need anything."
I left out the store and got in my car, attempting to call Joshua for the last time. Like last time, it went straight to voicemail.
I slammed my fists down on the steering wheel a few times out of anger.
Truth is, I hadn't seen him this morning. I just had to hurry up and say some shit so that Lyric and Taylor wouldn't start worrying.
Joshua was missing, but I had an idea of where he was. Hopefully.
I started my car up, and hastily backed out and turned into the street, going way above the speed limit.
