"she is definitely going to get tricked into eating one of the seniors pot brownies and be stoned by 4th hour."
claire pointed her plastic spoon at a small freshman walking into school with a pink back pack, glasses, a pigtail to hold her bangs up, and to top it all off, a very confused expression.
ashton hit claires shoulder abruptly, earning an "ow" from claire and a kick in return.
"hey," ashton said. "don't be planning out someone's first-day-of-school catastrophies just by their appearance."
"chill ashton, we at least know that one's true," soph spoke, her eyes not leaving a group of seniors talking to the same girl that claire was observing moments ago.
"told you," claire spoke around a mouthful of vanilla yogurt and pointed again with her spoon at ashton.
claire, michael, soph, ashton, and calum were currently sitting on the front lawn of their high school, waiting for the bell to signal that the first day back to hell had begun.
claire had been michaels best friend ever since she moved to the small town of epping, new hampshire in year 8, and ended up moving in right next to michael on the street of pearson way. when michaels mum and dad were at work and michael was still recovering from the accident, claire would come over and hang out with michael so he wasn't lonely and she kept an eye on him for his parents making sure he didn't injure his right eye again somehow.
claire was an outgoing, flaming bisexual whose hair was a vibrant colour every march-october, and every month that wasn't one of those included her hair was her natural blonde colour because of her parents fear of their daughters hair falling out. she never took anyone's shit and she was very opinionated and a nature lover, but michael was very thankful that they found one another because claire brought out michaels wild side that he didn't know he had.
soph and claire met in year 9 when they had just switched to the high school and found each other in their honors english class. from there, claire had took hailey under her wing and introduced her to calum, michael, and ashton.
calum and michaels mums had been good friends from college so michael and calum had known one another since infancy. calum had met ashton when michael signed cal up for the asain-american club at school as a joke, and ashton had joined it with his friend aiguo xiong, being that you didn't have to be asain to sign up, and met calum through there.
"woah look at that dude," calum interjected, scooting up next to michael on the grass.
"where what dude," michael scanned his eyes, or should I say eye, across the group of bland students in front of him, not seeing what cal would be so excited about.
michael felt two small, cold hands on either side of his face (which he knew belonged to claire), and the mint haired girl guided his head to the right, then michael knew what cal was talking about.
he was lanky, skinny, pale, and a mess of soft blonde hair sat atop his head. he had a button nose, a sharp jawline, rosy lips, and a black lip ring which matched the rest of his darkly shaded outfit.
"he must be new because damn I have no idea how I would not have seen that fine piece o-" claire was cut off by michaels hand slapping over her mouth.
"look at him," cal spoke once again.
"he's like some kind of walking lamppost, he's so tall."
"hey!" claire chucked her empty yogurt container at calums head. "don't compare a human to an inanimate object!"
"you were the one judging freshman from afar a couple seconds ago!" calum fired back.
soph reached in and gave both claire and calum a small smack to the head.
"would you two stop hating one another for a few seconds because it looks like michael over here is experiencing love at first sight," soph gestured towards the pale boy whose eye was still on the new student.
"ooooooo," calum teased, poking michaels now pink cheek.
"looks like mikey here has got a crushhhh," calum continued to poke michaels flaming red cheeks as he drew out the "sh" on the end of his sentence.
"stop that," michael smacked the tanned boys hand away from his face as the bell rang.
"i'm not gay."
"that's what I thought in year 9," ashton shoved the red headed boys shoulder as they walked towards the building.
"but look at me now."
ashton hooked his arm around calums neck and pulled him in for a kiss which cal happily gave back.
"just because I hang out with a bunch of flaming homosexuals doesn't mean I have to be one also," michael argued.
"you cant fight it, clifford," calum spoke, heading in the direction of his locker.
