Chapter Five
The Strangers’ POV
I had just put my glasses on to block out the sharp sunrays when Catherine stepped out off her shop obviously waiting to invite me inside, since I have not been here before. She smiled at me when she saw me get out off the car. It had been a while since I had last seen her, about 20 years. She still looked the same, but there is a faint difference in her eyes that I had never thought I would see in her eyes. Love and happiness sparkled in her eyes. I think her young child is the cause for this change in Catherine.
“Hello dear Heath! How have you been? It has been a long time yes. A whole twenty-one years.”
“Catherine,” I said with a half bow and greeted her by taking her hand in mine and kissed the top of it which made her laugh whole heartedly. “Yes, it has been a long time, too long I am afraid that I almost did not recognize you with all the grey hair.”
“What, I’m not grey.” She said panicky and looked in the window of her shop and saw the two culprit grey strands that she had not notice before. She glanced around her quickly making sure no one looked and close her eyes. A second later the grey strands where turned to a bright dark red.
“I need to keep my age in check I have a young daughter who would be very embarrassed to have a mother with grey hair.” She laughed and walked into the shop. “Please step inside make yourself at home.”
“Thank you Catherine. You have a very nice place here. Is business good?” I asked as I saw the girl from earlier watering a plant and another girl, probably Catherine’s daughter, lounging on a chair in front of the till with her feet up on the counter.
“All done.” The girl said with a smile, putting the watering can away.
“Nope, you’re not done, you missed a few.”
“Where?” she said and looked around the shop looking at every plant she might have missed.
“On the top shelves silly. Did you forget those?”
“Oh yeah. I’m on it, don’t worry.” And with that she climbed on the shelves not bothering to get a chair or ladder to climb on.
“Business is all well thank you. Heath, this is my daughter Julia,” she pointed at the girl with her feet on the counter rocking her head side to side and waving her hands around pretending to play the drums. She stopped and shot me a huge grin and waved with both her hands. ”And this is her friend Alex. They are kind enough to help me in the shop once in a while.”
“Hey.” Alex said as she only noticed us when Catherine introduced them.
“Ladies.” I greeted them as well with a small bow to each of them.
“We will be in the back if you girls need anything.” Catherine said and showed me the way.
“Awesome! Did you see that body, hmm-mm. That’s so eat-alicious!” I heard the one named Julia whisper to Alex.
