Lily's POV
I pry my eyes open slowly and light fills my vision. I glance at the clock and it is only 8:00 am. Usually during the weekends I would sleep in until ten, but today was out of the norm. I was surprised at my self, maybe even a little proud. I never woke up this early without an alarm clock. Even then I would have to set it right next to my face so that when it rings I would actually wake up, or else I would just sleep right through it, waking my neighbors up instead.Something next to me squirmed. I almost had a mini heart attack, but I quickly realized that it was only Chris. We were in the similar position from the night before; as Chris's body was still turned towards me and he had his arm still enclosed around my waist- but he had a loose grip overall.
Yesterday's events put me in a woeful daze, and I slept really early. Whenever I'm in distress I usually sleep it off. It works, but I know that it's only temporary, meaning that someday I have to find a permanent solution to fix my problem, but I don't know just how. Anyway, it probably explains as to why I could wake up really early today.
I turned my body slightly so that I could see his face. He possess long lashes that stick straight down and a short, unruly, dirty blonde hair that framed his amazingly sculpted face. I wondered how the hell of a beautiful man like him was sleeping on my bed. Before the college life, getting my crush's attention took me almost four years to accomplish, and when I did, he betrayed me with a person whose name shall not be named. It was another dark memory of mine that I didn't want to think about, so I averted my gaze to the wall past Chris.
Then I remembered that I had to go to work to make up my co-workers shift at 9:30. I had over an hour to get ready, so I considered sleeping 30 minutes more, but I knew that if I did, I wouldn't wake up in another 2 hours. So I just opted for a quick stop at Starbucks before going to work and spending my extra minutes drinking some coffee.
I slowly and carefully slither myself out of Chris's grasp and manage to get out of bed without waking him up. I looked a him one last time. He had no reason to stay here anymore- he only asked to stay for one night, plus he had his own apartment to pay and take care of. As much as I liked his company, I wouldn't force him to stay.
'When I come back, you won't be here.' I thought as I went my way.

"Hey Lily? We need another cashier over here!" Ashmarie called from up front. There was a lot of people at the store today. I usually folded clothes and helped people find clothes, but since the line to the cashier was extremely long, there had to be more than one cashier to get the line moving. I never had shifts during the weekend, so I never knew what it was like. I avoided getting weekend shifts at all costs because they were the longest and the most hectic ones of all. The girl who I was taking over was Weiley. She is known for being the laziest worker among the rest, and she also purposely skips the most shifts out of everyone who works as AA, too. She comes up with new and creative excuses every time, such as her car breaking down and her going to an important funeral. If all her excuses were valid, her car was a junk and all her friends were dead. One time she called in saying she fell ill with an unknown disease, but on the same day I saw her at a community park making out with a guy- to which I desperately hope that she didn't pass on her "unknown disease" to that poor fella.
Just kidding.
She's a lying ass bitch.
So why does she keep this job if she barely even wants to work? I don't know. But no one dares to confront her because she can be really intimidating sometimes. She asks- no, more like forces other people to make up the shift for her, and for right now it seems like I became her number one target. But as long as I get paid for my extra hours, I'm not complaining too much.
