Diagon Alley was an amazing place. There were so many shops along the sides, and lots of people going different directions. Dumbledore pushed me forward, and led me into a really big building called gringotts.
"This is where you will be getting the money needed to buy your school things." He explained.
As we walked up to the desk, we passed a bunch of really ugly little creatures.
What are those? I thought.
"Thoes are goblins. They guard the bank. Nasty creatures they are. Never want to get on their bad side."
We stopped in front of a really tall desk. "Ms. Potter wishes to withdraw from her valut."
The goblin started to speak. "Well, does Ms. Potter have her key?" He spoke in a low gravely voice. Dumbledore reached into a pocket of his robes, and pulled out a small golden key. " Here you go" He said in a calm yet cheery voice.
The goblin took it, and looked to be examining it, as if it was a fake. After a couple minutes, he handed it back to us saying "Ok. Griphook will take you to the vault of Ms. Potter."
He dismissed us, and we walked towards a tunnel looking thing. Another goblin had us get into a wooden cart, and we started at a dangerous pace down the tunnel.
Make it slow down!!! I thought.
Dumbledoor just chuckeled. "Don't wory. This is completely safe. There has never been an accident on this track, ever."
That didn't really help, and the world started to spin again. My breathing was coming out fast and ragged, and it felt like my throat was closing.
"Hey, hey, hey. Breath Leighlah. Breath. The ride will be over soon, don't worry. Calm down. Calm... calm down. There you go. Almost there." Dumbledore said in that calming voice.
Once we finally got there, I staggered out of the cart, and onto solid land. I didn't ever want to go.
The goblin just had to ruin the moment. "Key please" He said. Dumbledore handed him the key, and he unlocked the door. "Lantern please".
Once I could get a good look at the inside of the vault, I was amazed. So many gold, silver and bronze coin type things in piles around the place. I grabbed a bag hanging on the wall, and started filling it.
"The gold are galleons. Silver are sickles and bronze are knuts. 17 Sickles to a galleon, 29 knuts to a Sickle, 493 knuts to a galleon." Dumbledore told me.
Can we go now? The sooner we get on the cart the sooner we get out of here. I thought. Dumbledore chuckled. "Yes we can go now. Is your sack full?"
Yep! I thought. Lets go!!!!
We hopped onto the cart and went fast through the tunnel we came through, untill finally coming to a stop at the beginning.
"Well, now that you have your money, lets go get all the rest of the things on the list." Dumbledore said.
He led me into so many different little shops and stores. There was a robe store, a cauldron shop, a quill and parchment store, a book store, a news paper shop, and so many more. After we were done with robes, we stopped in a small little shop called Ollivanders. Dumbledore led me inside the shop, and a bell rung, the only problem was, it looked deserted. I took a couple steps towards the desk, and suddenly a ladder with a man on it slid along the shelfs.
"Well, Miss. Potter, it's good to see you here at last." The man who I assumed was Mr. Ollivander said. "I remember when your mom and dad bought their first wands! They were good wands..... So! Lets get you a wand now shall we! Which is your wand arm?"
I held out my left arm.
"Lets try 12 inches, ash and unicorn horn." He said. I had just picked it up, and he took it back, muttering to himself. "Maybe 12 1/2 inches, vine and dragon heartstring?" He said. I picked it up and gave it a wave. The window broke. "Ok, not that one." He sighed.
We went through maybe 50 wands, and I was starting to loose hope. Mr. Ollivander ended up just giving me a stack of boxes, and having me go through them while sitting in a corner. Lets just say I was there for a while...
It has been at least 3 hours, and I still don't have a wand. Mr. Ollivander is closing up shop soon, and then I will have to leave. Mr. Ollivander came up to me.
"No luck?" He said.
I shook my head. I had found nothing.
"I wonder... could it be?... no, that's impossible... I'll be right back." He said.
He walked toward the very back of the shop, and behind a black curtain. After a few minutes, he came back out with a really dusty black box.
"I think it's this one." He said.
Mr. Ollivander handed me the box, and upon opening, I discovered a beautiful wand. I picked it up, and as soon as I touched it, a warm feeling went through my arm, and the room lit up.
"Curious, very curious..." He said mysteriously. "A very rare combonation. Vine and not one core but 3! Dragon heartstring, Phoenix feather, and a hair from Merlin himself!!! We should expect great things from you Miss. Potter."
Thanks. I thought.
He looked startled. "Did you just speak in my head?" He questioned.
I nodded my head and smiled.
"How much do I owe you?" I thought.
"Nothing Miss. Potter. I have been trying to sell this wand for forever! It's good that it's going to someone who will use it for good." Mr. Ollivander said.
I nodded to show that I understood, and walked toward the door. I waved to Mr. Ollivander, and left the shop. Dumbledore was waiting outside.
"So, are you ready to leave?" He asked.
Yes. I thought. Am I going back to the orphanage?
"No my dear. You will be staying here in Diagon Alley. At the Leaky Cauldron." He explained.
Ok. Will I see you soon? I asked.
"Yes, you will see me at Hogwarts when you go. But while you are here, try not to cause too much trouble alright?" He chuckled.
Ok. I thought, and Dumbledore and I walked into the Leaky Cauldron to find a room that I could stay in.
