I woke up to the sound of a tent unzipping, and someone walking out, crunching the grass as they walk. I open my eyes, exhausted, and turn on my iPod to see the time. 11:27. Ugh. Still nighttime. I hear soft breathing beside me, coming from Sarah, and I know she hasn't gone. Paw went to her home to sleep and pack up, since she's coming with us to get back home, so maybe it's her. I sneak outside, careful not to wake Sarah, and follow the path of trampled grass. I have my sword with me, so if any danger is there- or if Sky captured anyone- I have some sort of defence. I keep following it until I get to a cliff, where I see a girl, her feet over the edge, crying. Is this it? Have I found the girl who saved me from Sky? I get closer, and see a big pink bow at the back of the girl's head. Sigh. Jen. Me and her haven't been getting along recently, despite the similarities. She keeps thinking I want something, but I'm just usually this nice. I go up to her, but step on a twig. She jumps, and turns around, her eyes puffy and red from crying. I smile. "Hi Jen." I force a smile. She frowns. "What do you want?" "I told you, I don't want anything! Why are you crying?" I ask, but she turns around, and starts crying again. I sit down next to her, and rub her back, just like my mom does. Well, did, until I got trapped into this mess. "Hey, why are you crying?" Jen asks. Whoops. "I'm just thinking about my family. They must be so worried." I sniff, and she gives me a smile. She starts rubbing my back. I hold my breath until I stop crying, and smile. "So, why are you crying?" I laugh, and she smiles. "I just had a bad dream, and Pat wasn't awake. So I came out here to clear my head." "You wanna tell me about the dream? I promise I'll listen, and I won't laugh." She smiles at me, and then frowns. "It was where Sky stole me, and threw me in a prison. He killed Pat, he killed everyone, and I was left. Then he came into my cell with a knife, and I screamed. Then everything went black." My eyes were wide. "Wow. Just... Wow." "Yeah, but the strangest thing happened. When I was thrown in the cell, you were there. I was crying, and you rubbed my back just like you're doing now. You calmed me down, and you said something to me. You said, 'It's going to be okay. We can defeat Sky, and my friends are probably coming. I left a... note. We'll be okay!' That's when I looked at my hair, and it looked like the hair of the girl that saved you." I gasp. "What if it was real? What if I meet her? Also, why is that a nightmare?" Jen sighs. "Because Sky killed my only true love- Pat. And he killed my friends, and then he kills me." "You don't know that for sure though. You could have just fainted out of fear!" She looks at me strangely, and then seems to understand. "That's true." She yawns. "Well, I better get to bed. And hey, thanks for helping me." She stands up, and stretches. I look up at her, and smile. "Hey, no problem. And for the record, I don't want anything. I just love seeing people happy and laughing. So I always try to be super nice." She smiles back, and says, "I understand that now." And she gives me a hug. But she whispers something in my ear before she goes. "You know, other than Pat, you're my best friend." And she leaves. My smile is sandblasted on, until I turn back to the view from the cliff, and remember Sky. Maybe that will happen to me one night, and I'll have to send them a note. Maybe my magic powers include telepathy. My thoughts are interrupted by a twig snapping. I grab the handle of my diamond sword, and look behind me, sword in the air. The figure emerges. It's Horus. I sigh, and smile as he comes to sit beside me. "Hey. What are you doing out here?" I ask, as he dangled his feet over the edge of the cliff. "Pat woke up, but he didn't see Jen there. He panicked, and so he woke me up, 'cause I'm the only other guy. Later, Jen came back, but said you were here, so it's okay." He explained. "Yeah, she said she had a bad dream, so she came here. I found her, and now she finally gets that I'm always just overly nice, I don't want anything." "That's good." He smiles, and looks at me. His happy expression goes cold, and I look away quickly. I'm not used to seeing him stern, and I don't like it. "What's wrong?" He asks me, and I look back at him. "It's just... You look kinda stern right now. It's making me scared." I answer honestly. "Oh, 2besties..." He says, wrapping me in a hug. I smile, and hug him back. "I was just remembering this morning, when Sky almost trapped you." He whispered in my ear. "I don't want it to happen again." I smile despite my worries, and pull away. "Wait, if Sky does get me, I can telepathically talk to you. Can I try?" I ask, my smile long gone.
**4-5 tries later**
Hello?
I wait 5 seconds, like the other tries. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1-
Hi!
Did it work?
Yeah it did!
Great!!!
I smile, and hug him. I did it. "Yes, you did." Whoops. I yawn. "Hey, you wanna go to bed? You need your rest." I smile and nod. He lets me get up and escorts me to bed. He sits by me while I pull my blankets up to my chin, and looks in my eyes. "Hey... 2besties?" He asks, smiling. "Yeah?" "Good night." He says, gets up, and goes. I smile and fall fast asleep.

I wake up yet again to a twig cracking behind the tent's zipper, and I groan. Not again! I look at my iPod for the second time tonight. 1:56. Why do I keep waking up? I use my magic to make myself more lively again, and peek out the zipper for the second time tonight, to see that fiery girl again. I catch my breath to prevent myself from gasping, when I see a hairy hand reach out and grab her throat. "I've got you now!" A cold voice says, and I hold my breath. Sky. "Hey, let me go!" She says, and struggles against Sky's grip. She notices me staring at her, and her eyes sparkle. She closes her eyes, and for a moment, nothing happens. Then, I hear the voice of the fire girl. "Help me. I helped you, so can you help me?" Telepathy. I send a message back. "How? I don't know what to do!" I get a reply within moments. "You'll think of something. Just be quick, this man is hurting us, and there are very few of us left." "What do you mean? Very few of who?" I ask, but no reply comes. I go back to reality, and see Sky tying Fire Girl up against a tree with some rope. "Now don't you go anywhere. I have to get a rare flower, and then I'll be back." Sky runs off, and I sprint towards the girl at top speed when he's gone. "Quickly!" She whispers to me, and I run to the knot that Sky tied. My fingernails are always very long, so I work the knot apart with my fingers. Just as I untie the last cord, a hand grabs me. "You..." I hear, and a hand covers my mouth. I chomp down on it, and hear Sky scream. The girl is frozen in place like a deer in headlights. While I still can, I scream, "Go! Run! Before he catches you!" Suddenly I get a message. "You're risking your life to save me?" It's from the girl. I don't bother thinking it, I scream. "Yes, now RUN! I can fend for myself! Now GO!!!" "Thanks." I hear, before she runs off into the forest, and everything goes black.
