Mary's dream took her to a garden, peonies and roses lined the fence, and a beautiful fountain sat in the middle.

Mary's father appeared, his stern look on his face. "A female alpha?" He scoffed, "you can't be serious."

Oh, she forgot how happy she was when he died. Mary looked around saw her hair. Dark Blue. She had many ear piercing. Her nose had some too.

Oh god.   "Beta Gale should have gotten the title.   Not you.    Your irresponsible, disrespectful and unreliable.   You don't deserve the Bendwill family name."

Tears dotted Mary's eyes and threatened to spill.   I forgot the power my father had over me.   "You don't mean that," she cried, "I know you don't mean that."

"Wake up.   Wake up, Mary." Autumn shook Mary awake. Her ginger hair hung in her face as she woke Mary up.

"Come on. The limo is waiting," Autumn told Mary. She got up rubbing her eyes, and checked her hair. Brown.

"Ya, um lets go." She yawned.

Autumn led her back outside into the Limo. Ray sat in the back drinking vodka. She rolled my eyes at him as he tilted the bottle at her.

Why not? She thought. She took a swing and the alcohol burned her throat. Why did I do that? She thought.

She trailed back to the garden and again, her father continued to rant. "Honestly, your brother was insane to forgive you. You bring shame and embarrassment to the Bendwill name."

"You never understood what I did. You never will. I went away to find out who I was because you didn't care. I cared about myself enough to leave you."

He looked at Mary ashamed. His faded green eyes and gray hair. Mary realized that they had the same eye color. That was the only thing she had in common with him. Her looks and ideas came from her mother who left her at a very young age.

"If your going to be alpha at least do it right. You won't get special treatment for having breasts." That was father Mary knew. His smartass comments and silly little grin, "I still don't forgive you though."

And with that, for the fist time in forever, she smiled in the presence of her father.

"You need to show the people of your pack that you are suitable for the alpha title. You need to be more... more... what's the word for it?"

His face looked concentrated on this mystery word. "Tough?" She suggested.

"Yes. Tough. Show the people you can protect them. That means eliminating all threats. You need to be on defense and in offense. Does that make sense?" He asked.

She nodded, and the garden faded form beneath her. Mary woke up in her bedroom, still in her ball gown. Tired and utterly confused. The clock told her it was 5'o clock. That can't be right. The sun is up.

Mary got up and dressed into leggings and a tshirt that said "I'm Married To Iron Man."
She put on her combat boots and walked outside to get some breakfast.

Ray had a blue cap pulled over his head. Hangover, Mary assumed. Autumn wore her ginger hair up in a bun and wore a tacky crop top and ripped shorts.

She too, had on a cap that overlooked her face. "Don't tell me you both have hangovers?" Mary questioned, "how much did you drink?"

Ray groaned at the noise I was making which I took for a "a lot". She rolled my eyes at their self control. Autumn took her cap off and looked completely sick.

She made a gagging noise and ran off in the direction of the bathroom. Mary sat down in the dinner booth and Mags came around for orders.

Mags had some secret recipe for hangover cures which she refuses to share with anyone. Thank god she still makes those. "They will have two hangover cures, and I will have a diet coke with a fruit cup." Mary ordered.

"Coming right up." She returned with to purple colored smoothies and a soda. She thanked her and handed Ray his. Autumn came back, pale as ever and sporting off a disgusting smell.

Mary made a little gagging noise and suppressed the urge to throw up. "Drink up, and then we're going to my place and giving you a shower," she instructed, "trust me. You need it."

Autumn rolled her eyes and downed the drink in one sip. No wonder Autumn could drink so much alcohol. She could drink a not very nicely tasting smoothie like water.

After autumn was hosed down, and didn't smell like she drank liquor and ate pastries with a lime and spit back up, Mary walked into her office where she saw just the man she was looking for.

"Mr. Lazur, just the man I was looking for!" Ian Lazur was a young man, roughly in his 30's and was a PI.

Mr. Lazur showed a bit of a small, fake, smile and waved his hand to carry on. Mr. Lazur had blonde hair, obviously died, and thin face. He was absolutely gorgeous which means he's almost automatically unavailable. A shame, thought Mary.

"I need a private inspector to do some... um... Digging for me," Mary offered.

"Yea right! As if I would help the woman who thinks she can become Alpha!" He snarled.

Ouch. Mary collected her feelings. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. I have to be just like any Alpha male would do, she told herself.

"I remember a certain time Siberia. It consisted of me, you, a bar and a whole lot of Russian Whiskey." Mary spilled.

This was easy. She thought.
Ian made Mary promise to never speak of that "certain time in Siberia". Ian told some people but not all.

"You think I care about that? I told almost everyone. I have nothing to lose." Ian scoffed his blue eyes freezing cold.

"You're right," Mary nodded her head, "though I don't think your wife knows. Does she? I always forget the 411 with Ashlyn," Mary smirked.

Check mate.
