"I need you to spy on Gale and what he plans on doing."
"We're not planning anything," Madeline laughed.
"Your grin tells a whole other story," Mary growled, "so you are going to report everything to me. If you don't I promise, I will kill both you and Gale."
"Aw, you need me."
"I could snap your neck right now and find someone else to do my bidding, Madelyn." Madeline glared at Mary's pronunciation of her name.
"Mary, we both know you can't kill me."
"I can, I've tried, I will." Mary stated, "you report to me on Tuesday." Mary paused, "and for your sake, I hope you have something to say."
Mary whizzed pass her. Madeleine's blonde hair flying up with the werewolf-speed of Mary's run. Mary made her way out of the back woods of her pack house, emerging from the forest to see August leaning against a tree. "That was pretty badass, bossing Madeline around like that. If people say you can't be Alpha cause your not willing to hurt, then they are so wrong," August laughed.
Mary's eyes widened. She had hoped this "exchange" would be a secret. But she knew she could trust August, she was, after all, her best (and only) friend. "August, you have to promise me that you will speak about this to no one," she whispered. August nodded then shrugged and pulled herself up to walk with Mary.
Once they walked inside, both Mary and August were hit with the smell of pizza. Yay! Ray is making pizza! Mary thought. Ray had always made amazing an amazing pizza, but it was nothing compared to the pack diner. Mary smiled at ray as he struggled to keep the dough flying in the air. She walked over to one of the small buildings that housed her. The alphas house was a separate house from the rest of the members. Some of the really rich members of our pack, and the beta and third in command, bought lots on our land to build their own land.
August bunks with Ray because and she quotes "those apartments are tiny and you don't have a roommate." Mary walked upstairs to her fathers-then-her-brothers room. He always kept it very professional, no more solar system hanging from the ceiling or the 'Captain Syke' bed spread, no. Xavier had grown up when he became Alpha. That was the biggest thing that impacted Mary when she came home to hear her brother was dead. She didn't get to see him grow up, even though she was younger, he seemed immature compared to her now.
But Mary would assume he matured when he became Alpha like she had too. She hadn't had the heart to move into the master bedroom. She knows she cant handle all that death. Instead, she walked to her room and sat down by her desk. Her desk had been her home since she got home yesterday. She read the files on Minister Clyde thousands of times. Nothing. She read the footnotes on minister Clyde thousands of times. Nothing.
Only strange symbols were marked in the corner with red pen. Mary had called Ian thousands of times. Nothing. Yet again. There was nothing scandalous in his purchases, or calls. Hell, he never went any places that would trigger an alarm. He was clean. Too clean for scum like himself. Mary dug, and dug, until her eyes couldn't stay open, and she became immune to caffeine.
Giving up, Mary fell onto her bed and quickly fell asleep.

"Please tell me that wasn't all the information you have on Minister Clyde," Mary begged.
"All I have, yes. I have connections. But they will cost you," he answered smugly.
"You asshole, connections are information, why are they not in the file!"
"Because you black mailed me, you thought I would give you everything? Surely, if you thought that then you are too naive to be Alpha."
"How much will it cost?" she asked.
"My brothers head on a stick."
Mary wanted to gasp but she couldn't. Killing Madeline, a deceitful, selfish, greedy liar. But Mary didn't know Ian's brother. He could be kind, or someone against his families business. "Fine, give me a name and an address," she caved. I have to get my pack back.
"Noah Lazur, Fourth Avenue, 2314, Broadway." New York, I have to go to New York. "You will receive my connections in a week, but only when i hear my brother is dead."
"But the hearing is in two weeks! That only gives me a week to build my case!" Mary blurted. A week to persuade a werewolf court, half of which hope that I go down and flames and the pack goes to its 'rightful' owner. Not to mention, hunting down anything suspicious that might show in Minister Clyde's files.
"One week," he stated.
"Okay," Mary let out a shaky breath.
