Wild side of Tulsa

Cherry unlocked the door and snapped angerly. "We are so getting out. Come on Marcia!"

"But I'm tired.." she yawned.

Randy laughed stupidly. "Babe why don't we hit it at my place huh?"

Then Marcia frowned. A frown I've never seen before then opened the door and crazily stepped out. Cherry did the same then the car stopped.

"Marcia!" I yelped unbelievably. "Cherry! I thought.. we were going to the Nightly Double!"

Cherry stomped her foot. "Well I've had it with them! Who needs a car when we've got legs?!"

I stepped out of the car and stood by them.

"Agree." Marcia sneered as she raised an arm.

"Aww come on! Babe you can't be doing this. I can't believe I wasted all this time on ya.." bob whined.

Randy added,"Marcia get back in. Come on. We didn't pick you guys up for nothin."

Cherry and Marcia began walking ahead. I looked at the boys then followed Cherry and Marcia. We arrived at the Nightly Double and sat, watching a beach movie. There was an awkward silence and I didn't like things unsaid so I spoke.

"Why are they like this now?"

"If you stay in Tulsa, bullshit goes on." Cherry snapped. Then she looked at me sincerely. "Sorry Debra.. I didn't want you to see that. They just been out of it recently."

I nodded. "It's fine.. Im sure things will get better."

Marcia scoffed and giggled. "Oh they'll be 60 by then."

"60? How early.. Don't you mean 90?" I joked with sarcasm.

Cherry and Marcia looked at each other then laughed. Then Cherry said, "you dig okay Debs."

30 minutes of silence passed during the movie. Cherry and Marcia were enjoying it or either just thinking. I was not entertained a bit.. Beach movies weren't my type. Then a figure of three guys came and sat in back of us. I tried not to stare. The tallest guy began to bother Cherry and Marcia whispered something about him. Greaser was what I heard Marcia say.

"Get lost hood!" Cherry shouted and the guy smirked.

I finally decided to just stare at them anyway. I seen the familiar boy. This was my chance! Before letting the tall guy say something back to Cherry, I stood up from my seat and pointed at the familiar boy with dark hair.

"You.. Sir, Ive been trying to get your name!" I confessed. Cherry and Marcia had their eyes widened at me, well everyone did.

"What are you doing? sit down.." Marcia whispered with her eyes narrowed. She seemed embarrassed.

Then I realized what a fool I was.. but these coincidences couldn't be for no reason. I then bowed lightly and sat down. "My apologies."

Then the tall guy with brown hair and nice cheekbones got closer in back of me, and asked,"Were ya talking to Johnny?"

"Was that his name? The guy in the jean jacket." I asked without looking back. I felt chills in my bones from hearing his tough guy voice. From the corner of my eye, I could see Marcia and Cherry staring at me in surprise.

He smirked and began chuckling then looked at the guy. "Yup Johnnycake, we got you a broad!"

I turned back right away, eye contacting the boy, called Johnny. He looked shy, not facing me but his eyes were locked with mines. Then I smiled and spoke,"Johnny, is it?"

He nodded quickly. His familiar friend by him just stared at me.

His confident tall friend, in back of me, said,"Johnny Cade. and you uh, probably know me as Dallas Winston."

"I'm sure we all heard that name before." Cherry rolled her eyes.

"No clue." I shook my head at Dallas with a smile then focused on Johnny again. "Its a pleasure to meet you Johnny Cade. I'm Debra Dovere. I still want to thank you for helping me last week when my sunglasses and hat fell.. That was really daring."

"Well aren't you one fancy heck-of-a-soc?" Dallas laughed.

Marcia spitted out,"What are you trying to pull Debs? Didn't you know he's that greaser who cause trouble?"

"No clue. What am I pulling?" I laughed.

Dallas came close between Marcia and me then asked,"Well can I, uh, offer you guys a coke or a 7-up?"

Marcia smiled and I nodded. "How generous of you."

Then he smirked at Cherry who was annoyed with her arms crossed and left to go get a few cokes. Cherry then looked at the two boys and scoffed something. Johnny's friend looks afraid and shook his head. Then Cherry smiled and asked for their names.

"Ponyboy."

"That's a lovely and original name."

I replied,"Coming from the country.. Very lovely indeed."

Cherry asked for their age which Ponyboy was 14 and Johnny was 16.

I put my hand on my chest and said,"I'm 16 as well. We sure have quite a lot in common Johnny."

Cherry and Marcia cocked their eyebrows at me. Johnny an Ponyboy stared at me quietly for a moment. I looked at them and awkwardly said,"Ahem.. well some things."

Johnny looked away and continued to the movie. I did too then Dallas came and handed us our cokes. Marcia and I sipped ours but Cherry angrily threw hers' at him and he began to put his hands on her.

"Uh.. Dallas, please don't do that!" I stood from my chair.

Johnny then said,"Leave her alone Dally."

Dallas turned to look at Johnny and scowled. "What'd you say? what'd you say to me you little shit?"

We all stared at Johnny except Cherry. She was ignoring it all and blankly facing forward. I looked at him in awe and heroism.

"You heard me,"he continued with a mumble. "Leave her alone."

Then Dally left unspoken, and looked mad. I didn't like seeing others mad so I yelled,"You were er, really kind to offer us the coke! Thank you Dallas.."

Marcia seriously commanded,"Let. it. go."

I looked at her, then she planted a cheerful smile. I smiled too. Cherry thanked the boy.

"That was so.. heroic of you!" I exclaimed, sitting back down.

Marcia teased,"Oooo looks like someone's been flirty. Johnny boy you might wanna give Debra an autograph!"

Cherry laughed and so did I, then I cleared my throat and said,"I wouldn't mind."

He then blushed a little with a smile and looked away. Ponyboy was grinning with surprise at him.

Not so long, their friend Two-bit came and we met him. He was really humorous and had a good time with Marcia. Cherry was speaking with Ponyboy while Johnny and I were quiet. I would give him glances and he'd return them then I'd smile.

These guys were so courageous that they even offered to walk us home.

Then that's when Bob and Randy's blue mustang appeared.
