Chapter 3
Do Not ForgetJonathan and I walked to his room, me showing him the way.
We talked about fish and how my 'building' came to be on my island. I told him I didn't know, and that it had supplies such as clothes and water and other things inside it. He thought that maybe my island was a home to people before I came.
I said that was a possibility.We walked down the corridor silently and tiredly. I was ready to get to my room, close the door and sleep...for three days.
"Um, Angelica?"
I was so busy with my own thoughts, I hadn't realized Jonathan had stopped to look at a picture on the wall.
"Oh," I said "that's just a painting I found. I thought it was alright so I hung it up."
Jonathan stared at the picture in amazement, his blue eyes sparkling.
"It's beautiful." He said
It was a painting of a sunset. The sky was blue, pink, purple, and orange at all the same times. The ocean reflected the pretty colors plus it's normal dark blue. I thought it was unique.
"You think?" I asked
I looked at Jonathan's blue eyes from the side, he was still staring straight ahead at the painting, but I could see his eyes.
They shone with curiosity and excitement. They showed he was an honest and honorable man, and I respected that. They were the eyes of someone I could love.
'What is wrong with you!?' I thought 'you just met the boy and you're already falling for him!? You're pathetic, and desperate.'
I looked away from his sparkling blue eyes, ashamed. What was I thinking?
"Of course!" Jonathan said, helping me escape from my thoughts
"Look at the beautiful colors that are mixed!"
I looked at the painting once again, noticing even more beauty by what Jonathan pointed out.
The thing that made the painting even more beautiful in the end was that it had three words painted on the sky in pure black.
'Do not Forget'
I had never seen that there before.
"I wonder why the artist put 'Do not Forget' on it?" He asked.
"I don't know....." I said
"Ne Obliviscaris."
"What?"
He chucked
"Oh, that's 'do not forget' in Latin."
I looked at him skeptically and continued walking, silently.
He knew Latin?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When we reached the guest room, I opened the large wooden door, and gestured for him to walk in and look.
His room was made of pure stone. He had a twin bed in the corner of the room, with plain gray covers. There was one small window on the left side of the wall, and a small table near it.
"I will bring you some new clothes, and I will have food ready. Um, is there anything else you need, Jonathan?"
He smiled and stared at me for a moment.
"Angelica, you are one amazing mermaid."
He walked over to me, and grabbed my hands, they were small in his large ones, and his hands were surprisingly soft and warm.
"Thank you, truly, for all you've done for me."
My cheeks were on fire.
'Why?' I asked myself 'he's just holding your hands?'
I smiled kindly at him.
"You're welcome." I smirked
"And Jonathan?" I said
"Mmm?" He asked
"Siren, not mermaid."
I let go of his hands, gently, and walked out of the room, smiling.
I heard him chuckling behind me.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
