Chapter 5
Magical Dinner

"Get it together, Angelica." I told myself.
I kept thinking of Jonathan. His beautiful ocean blue eyes wouldn't get out of my head. His brown hair that covered his forehead, his pink lips...
'No.' I thought and closed off my mind.
I was in the kitchen trying to make some food. It had been 10 years since I cooked for someone. It was strange, and hard. Really hard.
I held a fish over the fire in my kitchen. There wasn't much in my kitchen. A small wooden table in the middle of the room, with chairs, a stool (that I made) and a cabinet, full of plates, silver ware, and cups. Jonathan's theory of people living on my island made more and more sense.
Off to the corner was my fire pit. I usually didn't eat fish because I had a plentiful garden near my home, but today was special. So, I made fish.

After about half an hour or so, I took my fish off the fire and took two plates out of the cabinet. I laid the fish on the plates, and got our silverware.
A thought occurred to me and I froze.
"WHAT IF HE DOESN'T LIKE FISH!?" I screamed,
"Oh, no, crud, crap, holy crab cakes he's going to hate me! No, no. Of all the things in the sea........."
Why was I making such a big deal of this?
I heard a shuffling noise from up stairs that (luckily) interrupted my thoughts.
"Ok, Angelica, breath"
I took a deep breath and looked around.
When I was 7 on this island, I decided that if I was going to live here I would need something to do. So I grew a garden.
Over the 10 years I had been on my island, the garden has grown enormous. There's more than plenty of fruits and vegetables I could use.
I speed walked out of my house and to my garden.
"Strawberries, strawberries......"
I talked to myself.
I saw my large bush of strawberries in the right corner and went to pick some. After I had my dress pockets full I walked back into the kitchen.
I got a bowl, and laid the strawberries in it.
"Ok," I said to myself "if he doesn't like fish or strawberries......ugh, he can go hungry."
I didn't mean it but it made me feel brave and confident.......sort of.

Jonathan came down stairs about half an hour later, looking baffled, and pale. His usually bright cheeks were less pink and more white then usual.
'How would you know?' I thought 'you've only known him a day.'
"What's wrong with you?"I asked
He just shook his head and sat down.
He looked down at the food and color immediately flowed back into his cheeks.
He looked up at me.
"Can I, may I-?
"Yes," I said "I made it for you, eat."
He started cutting the fish, and putting strawberries on his plate.
'Good' I said to myself in my head 'he likes fish and strawberries.'
I smiled silently to myself, and sat down to eat.

The weirdest thing happened during dinner.
Jonathan, just kept looking at me. Small glances like a clown fish coming out of an anemone.
I was starting to get uncomfortable.
"Jonathan?" I said "is something on my face?"
His face turned dark, dark red. It almost looked like he was holding his breath, I laughed.
"Oh, uh, er, you saw that? " He tried to laugh
"There is nothing on your face, it's just your eyes."
However possible, his face turned an even darker shade of red. I understood why he was confused my eyes were a dark shade of purple, and I knew from being on the mainland that they were strange.
"What's wrong with my eyes?" I asked anyway.
"Nothing is wrong with your eyes," he said "They are just a color I have never seen before, purple, dark blue, red, orange, almost like a coral reef." He said skeptically.
"Oh,"
Was all I said.
'That's not what they usually look like...' I thought.
We went back to eating out meal in silence.
'Were my eyes really like that?' I asked myself. 'If they are, why?'
"Excuse me for a second, please." I said, and left the kitchen.

I walked up the stairs in my stone building, well I call it a building, it's more like the top of a castle, cut off. If you took the princesses' top room and took it to my island, that's what it looked like.
The walls were cracked stone blocks, with bits of grass, and moss growing between them.
The floor was sand, and grass with badly broken, pieces of stone.
The ceiling was stone as well, but there were torches that I rarely lit, and bits of grass growing out the cracks (I had no idea how they grew up there)
When I got my bedroom, I went to look in the mirror.

"Oh. My. Goldfish."
