Chapter LXII: Shikata Ga Nai

Tetsutetsu, due to his increased weight in his steel form and digging his fingers into the ground, managed not to fly away as far as everyone else. Yet he was still far away from the center of the blast and saw nothing but uprooted trees and the rocky ground beneath him. He stood up hastily and looked around in awe, "What kind of power is this?... Endeavor! Shihai!?... Is anyone there?!"

"I am." Tetsutetsu felt a shiver run down his spine and he jolted around to be met with a kick to the face that made him eat the dirt.

He quickly recovered and rolled out of the way of an attempted stomp and got a clear look at Pain. "Your durability is impressive, but it won't save you."

Tetsutetsu's skin became steel again while he wiped blood off his cheek, "You Bastard! What did you do to Komori?!"

"The same thing that is going to inevitably happen to you."

Tetsutetsu froze up momentarily, 'Is Komori really... What I saw is unmistakable... she—' His thoughts were cut off by Pain dashing at him creating steel knuckles.

He snapped out of it and braced himself in a defensive stance, dodging Pain's first strike, 'This guy isn't gonna give me time to think! Gotta figure something out...'

Pain kicked him in the side with a metal cling and hooked him across the face.

Tetsutetsu lost a tooth and thought, 'Is this guy making steel of his own to counter me?!'

Tetsutetsu blocked a strike and tried to punch back, but Pain caught his fist and kneed him in the stomach, forcing him to his knees. 'This guy is kicking my ass... damn it... But I can take a beating all day if I have to!'

Tetsutetsu tackled Pain, but Pain elbowed him down into the dirt. 'Come to think of it, why isn't he using his gravity quirk after that big blast?'

Pain kicked him hard enough to launch him back on his feet and punched him in the face multiple times until his steel started cracking. Tetsutetsu eventually headbutted Pain's fist, breaking through the knuckles. Although, Pain grabbed him by the shirt and slammed him over his shoulder on the ground.

Tetsutetsu lost his breath and his eyes lost focus. Pain produced a black rod and focused on Tetsutetsu's cracked steel. "Goodbye."

Pain prepared to finish Tetsutetsu, and he tried to resist, but he was too dazed. 'What the hell can I even do? Damn it... I can't fight this guy by myself...' While his eyes wandered he spotted a red fiery light in the distance, and his faltering mind sharpened as hope increased his fighting spirit. He grabbed Pain's arm before pulling him in and wrapping around him. "GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT!"

"Flashfire Fist!" Endeavor flew straight into the two and drove his fist into Pain's back, delivering an explosive amount of firepower that enveloped all of them.

Pain went skidding and flipped into recovery. He threw off his burning cloak, revealing half of his body with fresh scorch marks. He glared at Endeavor and very slowly regenerated on one knee. "How annoying, I was just about to finish that one off."

Endeavor peered into his eyes and noticed a small amount of flames going into Pain's palms, and he thought. 'He must have just barely managed to absorb a lot of the fire. Tsh...' He glanced over at Tetsutetsu and helped him stand up, but his shaky knees were hard not to notice, "Take a breather and recover. I got this from here!"

Tetsutetsu allowed himself to drop to his knees and replied, "Endeavor... I think he can't use his gravity powers for some reason!"

Pain commented, "How observant, but it's of no concern. You'll all soon be joining the mushroom girl soon enough."
